Why do people lie?! 🤯 I hear so many horror stories from clients who have been stung *badly* in the past. Who have been sold things that is 💩 covered in 🦄 (there is no glitter emoji!) 😢 And it makes me so sad that it leaves some people doubting their ability to make good decisions - let alone putting some into serious financial trouble People who are: 🤯 Selling "Certified" courses and they’re not certified 🤯 People claiming to be "master qualified" coaches who aren't 🤯 Selling courses branded as masterminds, that have 0 personalisation ⛔️ It MUST stop. It’s the smoke and mirrors sh💩t that pisses me off online. Don't get me wrong... There is SO much good out there and I wouldn't be where I am now without the online space of LinkedIn and social media. And there are great courses and great coaches out there that aren’t accredited and that get people amazing results.   The problem that gets my goat and my strong need for justice, fairness and transparency - is saying something is something, when it’s not true... ❌ "Just because it will sell more" ❌ 🤷‍♀️ 'Cause that’s lying...! I seriously don’t know how these people sleep at night : when they’re basically selling snake oil 🐍 Whoever is teaching and condoning this, it needs to stop ❌ Now. How do my Monday's start off? Generally with a counselling session. I'm certainly not ashamed to admit I have therapy, and this post isn't even about mental health, but it was in that session today whilst having a panic about how quiet things have been lately that I realised I needed to have a bit of a reframe of what's going on for me right now with work. I've known for ages that I need a much better marketing strategy. Since becoming fully freelance just over two years ago I've been pretty lucky to have had a steady amount of voice work come to me through a couple of different methods but actually promoting myself directly to clients and getting my face (and voice) out there hasn't been one of them, even though I know it's the best long term business strategy...a term which sends my creative self into a panic. I could continue to stress that work isn't flowing like it used to, or I could see the spaces as an opportunity to reach out to new people and create a stronger and larger client base AND form habits that mean I continue to get myself in front of new people even when I am busy so I am more confident that I will continue to have a steady flow of jobs (or as steady as a freelancers flow can be). I'm now framing this part of my freelance life as the time I GET to learn how to grow my business and my voice acting skills so I'm producing the best work I can for my current and future clients and don't just stagnate...don't worry I will continue to panic I wouldn't be me otherwise, but having a plan makes me feel a whole lot better! ---------------- Are you looking for a professional but friendly sounding voiceover? Allyship- the small things you can do that make a difference. Small changes like capitalising the first letter of each word in hashtags can make a world of difference for those using screen readers. Too many social media posts are currently not accessible. Last week, I spoke to a few people I follow and they were unaware. So here is an example: Instead of #deafawareness, let's use #DeafAwareness.  It's a simple tweak that enhances accessibility and ensures everyone can engage with our content effectively.   Let's keep striving for inclusivity. Ever spent hours perfecting your website, only to realise it's not attracting the right clients? 🤔 Picture this: Your stunning new site goes live, but…crickets Sound familiar? If you're nodding along, you're not alone. My first website created whilst I was mid my coaching qualification was helping people to… 'Live the life they want to live'. Here's my story: 🌱 2019: When I took the ILM L7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring, my aim was to become an Executive Coach. I'd heard it was lucrative and sounded rewarding. 🌿 6 months later: I got some Executive Coaching clients and realised I was too triggered to enjoy that work. I'd just escaped the world of office politics and found my purpose. Many of those I was working with were just working for the money and it felt out of line with my values. So, I shifted my audience to career changers to fulfil my desire to help others to transition into a career they loved. 🌲 12 months later: I absolutely LOVED career change coaching, but I noticed when someone said they wanted to start their own business I was set alight (in a good way 😂). 🌳18 months later: I was spending at least 4 hours a week providing free support to those who wanted to be coaches and they indicated that they wanted more than a free 'pick your brains' chat. The decision was pretty much made for me to niche down to qualified coaches who had perhaps not fallen in love with the entrepreneurship side of it that I personally adored. 🌄 TODAY: This eventually led me to becoming a coach and mentor to qualified coaches and I've now helped 100+ coaches from all over the world with their business goals. Not bad for "just feeling into my own preferences” right? Decisions + Pivoting = Success and Happiness I dove headfirst into understanding my specific audience, honing my message, and aligning my business with my values, each step of the way. Starting out was hard, trust me, I know. But here's the thing: the early days of being in the ‘in-between’ stage niche wise is exhausting. My desire is for all my clients to use ALL of their experience and passions to date into their business. This isn’t just about building a ‘coaching’ business. It’s about building a full business that brings all of your skills and experience to date into it. I can't go back in time and change things for myself, but I can share what I have learned with you. 𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝘆 𝗢𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲....👇👇👇 There's always common threads and themes between the clients I work with Last week, I was reflecting on the threads of the last 6 months And in the interests of assuring, you you're not alone, here they are; ⚖️ A lack of boundaries and an inattention to their own personal needs 🤷‍♀️ Doubt over the value they bring and their impact as a leader on others 🤬 Communication issues with their leaders and / or their peers and team members The interesting thing is that over 60% of these clients come to me considering a career move when we first speak They feel like they need a change as they've 'lost the love' for it But it's rarely the case, there's typically always something else at play So, if you fall into this camp, I encourage you to dig a little deeper to discover what may be really going on for you so you can fix the right problem.
