🔧 EV skills gap in the UK! 🔧 The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has issued a warning stating that by 2031, the UK could face a shortfall of 3,000 EV technicians, potentially climbing up to 16,000 by 2035. 🏎🔋🛠 ❇ Current qualified technicians: 58,800 technicians are now certified to work on EVs, accounting for 24% of the UK automotive workforce. ❇ Training: To support the growing EV market, the industry needs to invest in training programs to help bridge this growing gap in skilled EV technicians. ❇ Industry Collaboration: Partnerships between the government, educational departments and the automotive industry are essential to close the gap. If you could change just one thing about the UK automotive industry, what would it be? I will go first. If I could change one thing about the UK automotive industry I would remove monthly targets and make them quarterly. I believe monthly targets are largely driven by manufacturers and achieved by retailers and the stress this puts in to the industry isn’t worth the benefit. What one thing would you change?

⚡Effects of European Tariffs on Chinese BEVs: ⚡ ➡️ Several European branches of MG Motor UK Ltd state they have stock until November when final tariffs will be decided. However, MG and NIO do not rule out the possibility of price increases for BEVs. ➡️ Dacia will not increase prices for the Spring model. ➡️ BYD is building a new factory in Turkey ($1 billion), a country with a trade agreement with the EU, in addition to their ongoing construction in Hungary. ➡️ The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), says sanctions have more negative than positive effects, especially for Germany.
