The ability to demonstrate the value that co-production has on people’s lives is becoming increasingly important, but we know social care can struggle to report impact. Judges are looking here for evidence of the great and complex social impact ‘programmes’ being delivered in the UK across all sectors, that are designed to change lives, make society more effective, communities more connected and ultimately change futures. They are also looking for ‘programmes’ of work that can demonstrate great controls not just on time, cost and quality but also on benefits (which can typically be realised way after the project has finished), for the legacy the project is creating and how it has impacted the lives in the communities both during delivery and after everyone has ‘packed up and gone home’. The latest statistics show that child poverty is a problem across Wales. Policy and Research Officer, Joel Davies, considers what this should mean for policymakers. We are calling on all political parties to make progress on tackling child poverty a priority. We need a social security system that guarantees our essentials. From our public roads and highways to our NHS, cleansing, schools and colleges, universities, apprenticeships, trains and buses, social care, social work, community safety, business support, community development – those essential public goods that we all rely on, all seem to be cut off from that wealth too. We can see the effects in towns, villages and cities across the length and breadth of Scotland, from weakened council services to the rise in community foodbanks. That’s bad for all of us. But it’s a disaster for people on the lowest incomes, because those public goods are often a vital lifeline in difficult times, and a platform that people can use to build for the future. Without them people are trapped. It’s also bad for business. They rely on roads to get goods to and from markets. They need public transport to get their workers in on time. They rely on the next generation of workers being educated and skilled. When a worker is sick, they rely on the NHS to get them well enough to return to work. They often rely on public grants and loans, and public support with paying their rates. In a myriad of ways, the public good is the bedrock of private enterprise. https://lnkd.in/eewPPech

So, if you’re a #leader in the #charitysector, can I please urge you to talk to your staff about their work-related #stress levels. 🙌🏼Remember that some stress is good (eustress) but ❌Too much stress can be damaging to your staff health and well-being. ❌Stress over a prolonged period can also lead to #anxiety -a medical condition which both negatively impacts the quality of life of your staff ❌Plus, staff won’t be so productive in a role and an organisation they’re most probably committed to. Co-production is about working in equal partnership with people using services, carers, families and citizens. For #CoProductionWeek, our expert advisor Jane Wilcock shares her top tips for integrating co-production in research grant proposals 1. Value diverse knowledge: Embrace the experiences of all involved and develop power-sharing strategies. 2. Plan for co-production: Justify co-production's value, recruit inclusively, and incorporate it at every stage. 3. Budget inclusively: Detail costs, involve public partners, and ensure compensation for their contributions. 4. Stay flexible: Allow for adaptable methods and outcomes with contingency plans. 5. Empower lived experience: Define roles clearly and safeguard against tokenism. Align your proposals with co-production principles for better outcomes! There are still places available on this programme, supporting people with health support needs, (especially mental health), with a money health check and coaching. The initial premise is simple: Reduce financial anxieties to improve wellbeing in general. What follows, though, is participants find the means and motivation to take control, not only of their finances but also their next steps towards good health.

This election, WE are demanding that politicians dare to raise their ambitions. Because to reach a brighter future you need to imagine and advocate for it. Over the last 14 years the Conservatives have dismantled our NHS, cut gaping holes in our services and driven policies that mean a third of children and 44% of single parent families (overwhelmingly led by women) are living in poverty. Women are on the front line of these crises and more, from climate change to broken services to escalating violence. Once again women, and particularly minoritised women, are being asked to pay the price for the failures of our political leaders and none of the old parties are offering answers. We can and must demand better.
