How can you build resilience and overcome rejection in your career?
All the examples shared are very valid and extremely critical. In my career spanning 30 years, particularly since I became an entrepreneur, rejection became a part of life. When I was in senior management in large organisations, people would want to know me. The phones would ring all the time. Invitations to best events. That changed very quickly when I gave up that seat. I learnt to not take it personally. Every rejection drove me to strive harder. I learnt to manage my ego better - rejection is very hurtful. I also brought in mindfulness into my work life. Rejection is not a reflection of our worth, we have to remind ourselves. I kept reminding myself to stay positive, confident no matter what.

How can you encourage employee loyalty in Advertising?
Create an environment of learning and sharing. Invest in training and development of employees. I remember working in an organisation where the focus was in upskilling. I stayed with this agency for the longest time. I also remember working with an agency in New Zealand that served drinks from 4 pm on Fridays. One Monday morning when I saw hundreds of empty beer bottles at the office, I questioned the MD. I was told this was one of the best ways to keep the younger employees loyal. I was young at that time. I quit. That wasn't the culture I wanted to be a part of. loyalty is a very important value - it means different things to different people. Have you ever asked what your employees needed to stay loyal?

How does a journalism background benefit your content strategy career?
I am not a journalist in the traditional sense. However over the years I trained myself to watch, listen, read opinion pieces and podcasts from around the world, by well known journalists. I observed that the pieces or stories that stand out are the ones that are well researched. It's easy to see work of journalists who are well trained versus those who do it lazy. I do believe for any craft to develop, we need to train - formally or informally.
