Having transitioned from a freelance Influencer Marketing Manager to a Talent Manager, I’m focused on aggressively building our Lifestyle roster (with some exciting talent reveals in my next post🫡). Some Memorable Moments from the last 4 months: → Team Meeting in Manchester: Connecting with the entire talent division and diving deep into our plans was truly inspiring. It’s fantastic to be part of a team dedicated to putting talent needs first. → Welcoming our first 5 lifestyle talent signings: Building a lifestyle roster is no easy feat. For the first two months, my mantra was resilience and the reward was onboarding 5 unique and diverse creators. → Elvin x Uber Campaign: When the actress couldn’t make it last minute, I drew on my Year 9 drama skills and stepped in front of the camera! 🎬 It was a bold move, but seeing the campaign go viral with over 6 million views was immensely rewarding. I owe a huge thank you to my amazing team, Kieran Wood 🔜 Gamescom and William Mollett for believing in me and trusting me to lead our first five lifestyle signings; Stuart Pickett for his many hidden talents that make our scrums fun and for being a genuinely supportive colleague; and Joel Archer for a ton of guidance, strategic insights and world-class memes! It's a tough job market at the moment. If I could give social media professionals any CV advice, it would be the following: 👁 Use the same considerations you'd use for a piece of content. Think about the hierarchy of information and how eyes scan pages to determine how to lay your CV out. 🗒 Consider a 'Key Skills' or 'Career Highlights' section at the top to give the hiring team a quick summary of your experience and talent. ✨ Add a logo board to your CV so the hiring team can see your brand experience at a glance. 🎯 Does your experience meet the requirements of the job? If so, ensure your CV echos the job description so the hiring team can quickly assess your suitability for the role. 🎨 I've historically kept colour to a minimum, but when I use it I've always tweaked the colours in my CV to match the corporate colours of the company I'm applying to - a subtle way to stand out.

I kid you not, there's been instances i mutter under my breath 'YOUR CV LOOKS HORRIBLE' when I view a clients cv sent through my mail. Ofcourse I never get to say this directly to the client. I do however, create an expectation and upon the 1st draft I give them detailed feedback on the changes made, and the reasons there of. I want to challenge ALL job seekers to put themselves on the HR's shoes. As an HR Practitioner or Recruiting Manager what would you like to read on a candidate's cv? What would help YOU to make a decision if you are shortlisting the candidate or not? It's quite important for candidates to do some research on the best practises on how a cv must be presented in 2024. Yes, I admit cv upgrades are at a cost (there's a number of FREE Applications), and this might mitigate all candidates from having an upgrade, but we must ensure our cv's are of a certain standard. Recently our Social Media Executive, Mia Green, and Social Media Manager, Lois Hoff, attended D&AD in London and here's a few things they learnt... ✔️ Algorithms are not as complex as we think, play with them. Essentially it is a breakdown of how TikTok reads your mind; it’s a flow of information and processes. Like making a cup of tea. 🌎 AI has a (pretty scary) large and growing carbon footprint. 1 prompt on chat GBT is the equivalent of 7L of water. 📱 42% of 18-25 year olds believe it's too hard to break into the creative industry. 👋🏻 Ignore the 'viral' TikTok formats. Focus on telling a story instead. 👀 Humans are driven by emotion - the importance of the value of products is decreasing in marketing but the access to human emotion is increasing. We need to tap into this.

There's a lot of talk about Instagram at the moment (specifically their algorithm) 🤔 But first, context... 🧠 ↳ The Head of Instagram, Mosseri, has been busy over the past few weeks talking about the Instagram algorithm & how your content can increase its reach. ↳ A lot of this started last month when Instagram's new algorithm update was announced - all around small creators and original content. ↳ Then, Instagram said longer Reels 'can hurt your reach'. Basically, it's recommended to post Reels under 90 seconds if you want your Reels to be discovered (still ironic seen as they've been testing longer uploads but ANYWAYYYY) ↳ Instagram then reinforced this message a week later with a post on their "Creators" account stating, "Just remember that any video over 90 seconds won’t be eligible to be recommended in Explore or Reels Tab." ↳ Somewhere in between this Mosseri also mentioned that 'Sends' were a key driver of content performance (which once again, sent people into a frenzy because everyone was considering "HOW DO WE MAKE SHARABLE CONTENT???" ↳ Then Instagram said using certain CTAs *could* affect the performance of your content. If you're 'hacking' engagement, the less likely they are to distribute your content. But, it begs the question of how this content is determined. (This created controversy as they deleted the original video then re-uploaded it to their 'Creators' account with more context) ↳ Finally (for now), Mosseri did a 90-minute video breaking down the algorithm and content recommendations (basically, video content is important and reinforced that 'sends' is a key reach driver) And breathe. Whewww that was a lot of IG algorithm updates over the past month or so, so I can see why people are getting frazzled. And my advice? Be audience-first, not algorithm-first. If you're creating content for your audience, you're naturally going to drive high watch time, engagement, sends and all of that other good stuff that's been mentioned above. Don't panic. Think about your audience, and all of the above will follow.

As a social media marketing manger it’s so important for me to have systems in place. It isn’t all about just taking content and posting it on a restaurants page. I need to: Strategise Research trends Brief photographers Write engaging copy Continuously test new ideas Run reports and monitor post performance And I need to be organised! For me this looks like: ✅ Having a clear line of communication with clients ✅ Having clear reports with data to make informed decisions ✅ Having boundaries in place so that my time is managed well ✅ Using notion to breakdown each part of the process into: new content ideas, competitor analysis, trends, hook ideas, brand assets, custom fonts - literally a category for everything! Without having systems in place and a crystal clear understanding of what’s going to happen in the next (at least 3 months) it’s difficult to progress. This is what I see is often missing from restaurants marketing management and why the amazing people behind them are super stressed!
