What are some effective ways to recruit, retain, and develop diverse fundraising talent and leadership?
Goals should be longer term and not changeable regularly - there's no point in regularly changing goals around diversity an inclusion unless there is no real intention of meeting them. Strategies however should be regularly reviewed and changed if they are not gaining desired results.

What are some effective ways to recruit, retain, and develop diverse fundraising talent and leadership?
Creating a racial equity and cultural heritage team within the organisation that has the power to formalise itself, create its own structure and decide where there is need for more representation within the organisation, sharing experiences, hosting trainings, do's and don'ts etc with the wider organisation is a strong strategy to keep the organisation on track for reaching their goals.

What are some effective ways to recruit, retain, and develop diverse fundraising talent and leadership?
The organisations that have been successful in attaining diversity have set specific goals that target numbers of gender and race - setting actual numbers within the goals is critical. This way the organisation can assess year on year how they are actually tracking and employ the right methodologies to achieve those numbers.

What are some effective ways to recruit, retain, and develop diverse fundraising talent and leadership?
Benchmarking performance and practices will not be enough if the teams doing the benchmarking have no diversity within them. The truth is that we don't know what we don't know and the biggest issue with the lack of diversity in fundraising is the lack of diversity - yes that sounds counterproductive, but managers must ensure that they diversify their benchmarking in itself, either through outsourcing it to organisations that have that diversity or through intentionally recruiting the people who will lead the exercise.
