The fourth translation challenge is launched on 18 January 2017 with teams getting briefed by this year’s customer TDI-Tuning Limited. The competition will end on 22 February 2017 with the winning teams presented with awards. This is the challenge where translation students translate for a real customer solving their specific requirement. This gives the students a real experience of working with a commercial customer and as part of translation teams. Show less

TTC wetranslate has joined forces with the University’s Department of Language and Linguistics to run a challenging and innovative competition designed to find the translation stars of tomorrow.

The competition that was launched on Wednesday 15 January 2014 is the first ever to be run by the Languages and Linguistics school. The students will work on an actual TTC wetranslate client project, The English Cream Tea Company.

Split into teams, the final year and Masters students will gain valuable insight into what it means to be a translator working with business clients in a real translation agency. Translation Challenge competitors will be given the chance to flex their language muscles and put degree teachings into practice in a busy commercial environment.

Ignazia Posadinu, Director of the MA in Translation, Interpreting and Subtitling at the University said: “It is vital that we prepare our students for the real world of work. To be working on real material, from an external client at industry level will be an invaluable experience for them.” Show less

Local translation company TTC wetranslate and the University of Essex joined forces once more to run the challenge for Language and Linguistic students.

The students will have the opportunity to work on a real translation project for Brandler Galleries Ltd. The purpose of the challenge is to give students a chance to put their theoretical work in to practise and experience life as a real translator. The Students have had their briefing and are ready to dig their teeth into this years’ real life project. TTC wetranslate Ltd is holding a 24 hour Bikeathon in Chelmsford, Essex on 13 September 2014. The event is co-hosted by local personal fitness studio, Unique Results. TTC and UR have joined forces to bring the 24 hour Bikeathon to raise money for Translators Without Borders and Kids Inspire, two charities doing worthwhile work in global and local communities.
