Access is a charity that aims to engage with academies and non-selective schools in England to deliver tailored and aspirational work experience opportunities. Access focuses on schools where there is limited existing provision, and will work with every student in the sixth form to find meaningful work experience. We are passionate about providing greater opportunity to young people who may not be aware of all the different futures they could have. We believe that providing a wide variety of good quality work experience is an important part of this jigsaw puzzle. Our aims • Improve employability of 16-18 year olds • Increase social mobility • Remove barriers to access to higher education & employment • Broaden young people’s understanding of the workplace • To work with academy and non-selective schools in areas of deprivation • To work with academy and non-selective schools who are improving but not yet at national standards for GCSE or A Levels Our approach • Provide joined-up overview of work experience provision to schools from businesses, charities and other organisations • Deliver practical mechanism for matching students to opportunities • Provide support mechanism for school, employer and student throughout the process • Focus on London What we need from other host-organisations • An offer of 1-2 weeks of work experience, ideally multiple times a year (during the summer holidays and February/October half-terms)
