Your team is struggling to build brand awareness. What are the best tools to help them succeed?
Having developed your brand, a visual and verbal document that encapsulates everything about your brand, is essential for ensuring consistency in communicating your brand external and internally. Beyond being a bible of how the brand should be presented in sales, marketing and and PR activities, it is moreover a rallying point around which all employees can understand how to keep offering and developing the product or service and how to fulfil the brand’s value proposition. Good brand guidelines go beyond how to present the purely visual and verbal identity to convey the very essence of the brand at every touch point with the consumer, and how employees themselves work on and with the brand. Great brands have such ‘brand bibles’.

No tool, non of the advice here, will be relevant without thoroughly understanding the needs and desires of the target audience. Understanding how you can connect with them and meet their needs is the key to success. Is your product or service of reliance to them? How can you build a brand around the product or service in a way that will ensures you connect with them to drive sales AND keep them coming back. First and foremost then is to identify and understand your target audience so that you can build a brand of relevance to them.

It is critical to understand whether your brand is truly connecting with your target audience in a way that is sufficiently differentiated from competitive brands AND motivates people to buy. Is the proposition of value to them? Does the brand personality ‘fit’ with the target audience? Does the brand connect at a deeper level to form a meaningful relationship that endures and so encourages brand loyalty? Understanding if your brand is succeeding in connecting with your customers is the first step to improving communications and sales.
