What do you do if your team members don't trust or connect with you?
You do not grow without your team. Their priorities are your interest. Ensure you understand initially what drives them, what motivates them. Also understand their weaknesses, how can they turn these into strengths? Suggest that they seek mentors, encourage growth. Help them understand that growth isn’t linear and help them to build trust in themselves and their judgement. Develop independence, don’t micromanage.

What do you do if your team members don't trust or connect with you?
Please always ensure you understand where the other individual or party is coming from. If empathy isn’t something you’re naturally attuned to, simply seek to gain context from what is happening with the individual. Ask simple questions such as, how are you doing? Ok, what is causing this? How can I help you? Can I just understand what caused you to feel / think this? Create an open dialogue, ensure people feel heard and understood. Yes, it may not mean you agree but an open dialogue employs a sense of understanding and respect.
