As a 100% BME-staffed agency, we encourage every Black PR professional to join the survey. Let's see what progress (hopefully) has been made, and most importantly, affect change!

Recently our Social Media Executive, Mia Green, and Social Media Manager, Lois Hoff, attended D&AD in London and here's a few things they learnt... ✔️ Algorithms are not as complex as we think, play with them. Essentially it is a breakdown of how TikTok reads your mind; it’s a flow of information and processes. Like making a cup of tea. 🌎 AI has a (pretty scary) large and growing carbon footprint. 1 prompt on chat GBT is the equivalent of 7L of water. 📱 42% of 18-25 year olds believe it's too hard to break into the creative industry. 👋🏻 Ignore the 'viral' TikTok formats. Focus on telling a story instead. 👀 Humans are driven by emotion - the importance of the value of products is decreasing in marketing but the access to human emotion is increasing. We need to tap into this.

An Exploration of Agency and Client Career Paths 🧑‍💻 Our First Role members are welcome to join us virtually on Wednesday from 12:30pm - 1:30pm for First Role Fundamentals - where we aim to give our more junior members applicable and practical information to make a difference in their marketing careers. We'll hear from Ciara McArdle and Ben Neilson as they discuss the differences between a role at a marketing agency versus a client company. Find out about the various roles available on both sides of the spectrum, what’s involved in each, and how they compare with and complement each other. The presentation will also consider the collaborative process behind the development of a marketing brief by a client through to its reception and response by an agency. This behind-the-scenes insight will allow further understanding of the roles discussed and their contribution to creating impactful, results-driving marketing campaigns. We'll end the session with a look at the overall benefits of roles in both agencies and client companies, offering a balanced perspective to aid you in making informed decisions about your career path, as well as providing examples of agencies and clients here in Scotland. One step forward two steps Black? We want to hear your experiences of what it’s like to be Black in PR and comms today. Charities on TikTok: a powerful tool to diversify marketing strategies, or risky business? In TikTok’s new initiative, the video-sharing social media app is encouraging charities to create content on its platform by offering free training to 100 UK charities. The TikTok Charity Academy will be run by Media Trust and will cover audience engagement techniques and content creation strategies. With TikTok enjoying over 2.5 billion users from across the world every day, this initiative aims to show charities how to utilise TikTok to raise awareness for their causes and discover new fundraising opportunities. Charities fundraising on social media is not a new phenomenon and many charities are already utilising TikTok to generate engagement from the younger generation, as 58% of users are under the age of 24.
