About

I'm a big picture thinker who also thrives in the detail. I'm a believer that both the creativity and vision of big picture thinking and the observational and analytical skills of the detail-orientated approach are vital if we are going to address inequality and injustice globally.

I am the kind of person that sees value in failure, as a mechanism through which we learn what doesn't work and so gets us closer to what does.

I believe that optimism is our greatest tool in the fight for a better world, as to be optimistic you have to be curious, and there is no progress without curiosity. I believe in people and our capacity to be better, even and especially on the days humanity falls short.

I'm someone who is driven to find new ways to solve old problems and I've been told that I have an indefatigable spirit and that I hold myself to as high account as I hold others. They are the best compliments I have ever and may ever receive.

This initiative is a unique collaboration between the University of York, the Brigshaw Trust and CapeUK, which is concerned with promoting creativity in learning.

As part of the project I facilitated action research in primary schools, the outcome of which will be the production of a transferable model for action research to be used as part of a long-term CapeUK initiative to cement a role for creative practice in modern teaching. The role afforded me vital experience in participating in research and public engagement with a tangible and immediate impact, as well as in policy development in education and working with the third sector.

Whilst there I helped record the effect of the local population on the coral reefs off Nasonisoni Island. As part of the project I also interacted with the local community as each volunteer was “adopted” by a family, helping out with day care and fundraisers were other roles I performed whilst on the Island.
