A positive company culture is vital for employee happiness. Creating a positive company culture starts with encouraging open communication, providing opportunities for growth and development, and nurturing a strong sense of belonging within the organisation. When your teams are genuinely content, it radiates through to your customers, setting the stage for the evolution of your brand and culture. When we're working with clients on brand and culture projects, we always say that "Personality goes a long way" (thank you, Tarantino) - cultivating a culture that values individuality and prioritises employee wellbeing will lead to a happier team and happier customers. #companyculture #employeehappiness #betterbusinesspractises

As ever an insightful article in The Media Leader regarding the GB News and Ofcom situation from Ray Snoddy There is a possibility that GB News are actively undermining the right wing vote by adding to the split between the Conservatives and Reform, thus helping Labour. The presence on GB News of Nigel Farage, a vocal critic of the Conservatives, will reinforce this rift. If so, the losses that Ray refers to in the article will have been even less well-spent.

Bristol Creative Industries
🚨 Announcing two new Bristol Creative Industries member benefits 🙌 One of our key focuses is boosting workforce diversity in creative businesses and helping to grow the talent pipeline for our members. To do that we have the BCI Talent Programme which includes two exciting new benefits for members: ✅ Research shows that diverse teams are more creative problem solvers, bringing fresh perspectives to solutions, against the echo-chamber effect that results when people in a business come from too-similar backgrounds. With a strong focus on diversity and inclusion, employees feel valued and that they belong. To help members achieve this, we have partnered with The Hobbs Consultancy to provide on demand equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) e-learning. ✅ We have also partnered with The Early Careers Foundation (ECF), a social mobility charity that works with young people from low-income backgrounds to ensure that talent and hard work are what determine their career success, not background. Through its mentoring programme, ECF pairs employees from partner organisations with 16-18-year-olds for monthly hour-long mentoring sessions. BCI members can now apply to be mentors. ✅ As well as these new initiatives, we also have our ongoing internship programme with Babbasa for young people from underrepresented groups, and we run regular roundtables with key post 16 education providers to promote creative careers to staff and career advisers, drive applications to our internship programme and explore how we can promote the creative industries to students already studying. To find out more and how you can get involved, read this post: https://lnkd.in/eUFGqrXF Alli Nicholas Sian Pitman Heather Wright Clare Leczycki Lis Anderson FCIPR Marissa Lewis-Peart Gail Caig Julian Davis #creativeindustries #bristol #bristolbusinesses #diversity #equitydiversityandinclusion #creativesector

Treatment guidance for new Directors here! Danny Fleet recently spoke to Shiny about how emerging directors can approach the minefield of being asked to treat for brands and agencies. Treatments take a huge amount of time and energy. If you are serious about winning jobs then you need to really think about what you can offer against the competition. Before you even think about treating, you need to assess the project in hand on a number of levels (this is where having a production company back you up is useful as they can ask the tricky questions so you don't have to.) • What is the opportunity for you as a director? • How will winning this job advance my career? • Is it one for the bank or the reel? • Is there the budget to make the film I want to make? If not will the film be compromised massively and work against me? Once you have made an assessment (and sometimes getting someone else like a producer to look at this with you honestly will help you). Then if you do decide to treat, ask yourself this: • Will the clients be paying me for treatments? (Even a small amount of money really helps a director). • Can I get on a briefing call with the creatives? Can I have someone else external help me and take notes (ie a prod co producer who is separate from the agency)? • Who else are they talking to? • Think about what kind of treatments they will be receiving from other directors - the competition. • How many directors are being asked to pitch? As a rule of thumb the client (or agency) should ask no more than three directors to pitch. Often they ask 4 or 5 directors to get a range of ideas. • What do they actually want from me as a director? • Why did they come to me? • How long can you give me to deliver the treatment? At this stage, if you are supported by a production company, an EP is carefully managing the process for you - consider the logistics, aiming to make the best opportunity for you as a director and to help you make the best film possible. At a production company, we are going all out for making you the 'recommend' to client. This can be muddied by the case that these days, there are increasing requests for treatments by agencies with internal production companies - If this is the case for you, the challenge in discerning who you are up against and whether you really are the 'recommend' for the job can be trickier. And so you might find yourself unsure as to how much to put into your treatment. However, assuming you are going all out with your treatment: You will be considering.... A huge thank you to Ben Wilkinson and the Roxhill Media team this morning in our London offices to discuss what’s setting the agenda on the money pages at The Telegraph. Key takeaways: 💡 Always put yourself in readers' shoes. Focus on what truly interests them and avoid jargon. 💡 Ensure that insights are backed up with solid data and compelling case studies. This enhances credibility by providing tangible evidence to reinforce your points. 💡 Keep your content punchy and to the point. In a world inundated with information, concise stories grab attention and make a lasting impact. 💡 Establishing trust with journalists is essential, especially for those at the start of their PR careers. Cultivating personal relationships is key to forging enduring and trusted connections. #MoneyMatters #MediaRelations #PRtips #CorproateCommunications #PersonalFinance

Yesterday, our ECD Imogen Tazzyman joined the Bloom North's panel, hosted by our strategy director Jordan M. to discuss ways to promote inclusivity and address stigmas faced by women in the workplace. It was an inspiring morning with some brilliant speakers including Oya Mustafa and Adele Lewis Bridgeman with discussions centred around navigating pressures, the mental load faced by women and leading by example for the next generation. Some key takeaways: 💡 As women in the workforce, we not only do the job but also remain conscious of how we’re being perceived. We actively address and challenge the behaviours and language of others to reshape our current reality. (Imogen) 💡 Self-worth holds more power than confidence. While confidence can be influenced by external factors, it's rooted in perceptions—our own and others. (Oya) 💡 The concept of the "Invisible backpack" is the weight of experiences and responsibilities that women carry daily. From navigating societal expectations, cultural norms, race, and background, all while striving to push against these constraints. (Adele) Thank you for having us Bloom North.

I absolutely love helping customers take their awards programmes to the next level and brainstorming ways we, at Evessio, can help them achieve their goals. This week alone, I've had at least 5 amazing conversations about the value of providing judges' feedback to entrants and how it not only helps to drive more entries but also enhances the quality of submissions! 📈🏆 Share your thoughts below on how important you think feedback is in the awards process! 💬👇 #Awards #Feedback #Evessio #CustomerSuccess

Actus Consulting
Yesterday’s event in partnership with Technology Holdings went so much better than we could have hoped for. We welcomed over 30 UK independent agency owners and founders to discuss strategies to balance growth, purpose and exit value over breakfast in the charming setting of The Union Club. Purpose was the word of the day (no surprises, AI got mentioned too). Our panel of expert speakers offered invaluable insights that gave everyone much to take back with them and think about. Some of the conversations included: Stephen Woodford, Chief Executive of the Advertising Association and a founder of Ad Net Zero, talking about how critical it is, as an over stretched agency leader, to share the purpose task and remember your agency team are part of the gang. So, get them involved in the journey too. Fleur Hicks FRSA, Former CEO of onefourzero, who successfully sold her consultancy to Next 15, reminded the room that when thinking about your purpose, what are you there for? Why are you doing what you are doing? This then needs to be the golden thread that runs through everything, from your values to hiring. Don’t forget the 80/10/10 rule! Bruce Robert Green, Director at Technology Holdings, reflected on the fact that sustainable growth will drive options - purposeful growth is increasingly attractive to potential acquirers; and that it is ok to work with a growth partner to get you to that next stage. Ben Rudman, Executive Director at MSQ emphasised the importance of what you want to get out of your business in the next 5 years, whether this is a financial exit or other. And don’t forget, the biggest growth problem is scalability. Implementing effective systems and processes is crucial for scalable growth. And our Managing Partner, Dan Egerton, chatted about the importance of rethinking the relationship between business and society; consider all stakeholders and communities, not just the shareholders. Balancing profit with purpose can significantly increase your agency’s value. See Coffee & TV as a great case study. In summary? Make sure you weave together purpose, commerciality and operations to ensure you are in a position of sustainable growth. This purpose alignment is now actively sought out from those who want to invest. Becoming a B Corp not only provides the framework for a purpose-driven business, it also demonstrates that you’re a rigorous, well run business too. Purpose can’t be for the sake of purpose. So, know what your end goal is – at Actus Consulting, we call it your dream with a plan. The panel were also all united in saying that it doesn't matter where you start; there is no beginning or end. Just get stuck in, making one difference at a time. The last words go to Stephen: “Be more peacock!” 🦚- if you were there, you know! Many thanks to our curious and attentive guests and our wonderful co-hosts Technology Holdings in creating an Event that was both reflective and energetic.
