📊 A new report has outlined steps that should be taken to support local authorities in Wales to improve their social care data maturity. ‘Data maturity’ refers to the readiness of an organisation to make best use of the data it holds. We commissioned Alma Economics to carry out an independent data maturity assessment of all local authorities in Wales. The local authorities completed a questionnaire about different aspects of their social care data functions. Each authority then received a summary report which provided advice on the steps it could take to improve its own data maturity. This Devon County Council, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, Heart of the South West LEP funded paper outlinines food supply chain actors perceived barriers and opportunities for more localised public sector food procurement. It provides first hand accounts from producers, procurers and other supply chain actors painting a picture of how complicated it is to overcome barriers to realise positive progress. It is a well referenced article that is worth keeping for future evidence calls. The paper contends: "...that systemic change in public procurement will require operational solutions that integrate the convenience of just-in-time systems while at the same time enabling stronger connections between supply chain actors." As our recent white paper has shown, economic inactivity due to ill health is holding back the potential of our region and its population. Today's Strategic Advisory Board heard from some fantastic initiatives across Yorkshire & Humber and posed the question 'Collectively, how can we contribute to addressing this challenge?' Key takeaways include: ⚫ 14.6% of working age people in the most deprived areas of England have long-term health challenges. More than double the least deprived areas. ⚫ We need person-centered support to tackle the physical and psychological barriers to work. ⚫ Flexible working is absolutely critical to the health of the workforce. ⚫ Leaders need to create the conditions of culture to help people to thrive. Most importantly, how can we get everyone to adopt these initiatives across the region?
