🎉 We were delighted to officially open of our new Outdoor Strength and Conditioning Gym at the YMCA Community & Activity Village this afternoon. Students from the Lincoln College Air & Space Institute, who are training to become the next generation of aviation professionals, showcased how they use the facility as part of their fitness regimen. This event also serves as a moment to express our gratitude to the generous funding from FCC Communities Foundation Ltd whose contributions have made this fitness space possible. Furthermore, thanks were extended to IndigoFitness provider of the gym's equipment, for their essential contribution to this project.

When talking about the Cost of Living Crisis thoughts might turn to heating or eating but there's also a social impact. Over 20 young people from our accommodation in Mansfield and Goole have contributed to a report released by YMCA England & Wales titled ‘Trapped in the Cost of Living crisis’. P (18), Goole, who said: “I’ve got to go see my granddad at his wedding which, I don’t really get much time left with my granddad, because he’s getting cancer and it’s spreading and all that. Focus groups involving over 20 young people from our accommodation in Mansfield and Goole have contributed to a report released by YMCA England & Wales titled ‘Trapped in the Cost of Living crisis’. Discussing issues like Food Poverty and Insecurity Mansfield resident O (20), noted how when accessing food banks, they “… never expected myself to be in that situation, you know what I mean, like but I thought there’s someone who needs it more than me, but then when I went, like, three days without eating, I was like, “No, I need to be able to get some food”. A new report published today by YMCA England and Wales highlights how organisations that aim to provide affordable housing are facing many challenges. This echo's the comments made by YMCA Robin Hood Group's team at Goole in a recent BBC interview. Giles Conlon, the YMCA's housing services manager for York and East Riding, said: "Private landlords are increasingly reluctant to take people who are on universal credit. Rents have gone up in the private sector, the availability of accommodation [to move on to] has become more difficult, so they have to spend more time here."
