Trade associations have never been more important in the music sector. They advocate for common interests and address the challenges facing our industry, and provide resources, education, and platforms for networking so members can connect, exchange ideas and knowledge, and build business relationships. Finding partners who are genuinely aligned with our cause and can make a significant impact is vital to the continuity of our work. In addition to the various schemes run by independent music trade associations at the local and regional level (which we encourage you to join!), we are now launching a program called WIN Supporters, aimed at those businesses who want to champion the global independent music community and work hand-in-hand with it as drivers of change. We are delighted to welcome Bandcamp, Marauder and Random Sounds as our first supporters, demonstrating their commitment to global diversity and innovation. Special thanks to Andrew Jervis, Lara Peterson, Rev. Moose and Mark Meyer for their amazing leadership and dedication. If you want to learn more about this new program, drop us a message!

WIN proudly supports independent music businesses that treat artists as key partners, engaging with them on fair commercial terms. These businesses, as investors, deserve a fair financial return alongside artists "I am so proud that our community can come together and affirm core principles of fair dealing like those found in the Global Independent Values. There are a multitude of business models in our industry but when independent label experience and artist talent work in partnership there’s no limit to what they can achieve." WIN Director and Sub Pop Records President Tony Kiewel reflects on how our Global Independent Values align with his own vision of independence. You can also read his take on the contribution of record labels to the music industry in this Billboard article on the recently released ORCA report: https://lnkd.in/dfuEdNpC Learn more about WIN’s Global Independent Values: https://lnkd.in/dREWqaaQ

The independent music sector actively encourages and promotes innovation and new commercial opportunities for music, as demonstrated by our recently published Principles for Generative AI. WIN Director Jason Peterson of GoDigital Media Group tells us how these principles align with his own vision: 💬 “We are passionate about building a strong and united music ecosystem where all contributors are able to earn a living from their work. As a part of this, we continue to explore how new technologies and use cases for music add value to listeners and creators. WIN’s Principles on Generative AI provide a common framework for users of music when considering the ethics and economics of transformative technologies.” Learn more about the Global Independent Values ℹ️ https://lnkd.in/dREWqaaQ Discover our Principles for Generative AI ℹ️ https://lnkd.in/eBgDYGAB
