VCMI's Director of Policy & Partnerships, Lydia Sheldrake, was delighted to speak on the role of high-integrity carbon markets to achieve Net Zero by 2050 at the Japan Alliance for High Quality Carbon Credit (JAHQCC) reception in Tokyo: "As we strive towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, the role of voluntary carbon markets has never been more crucial. However, the effectiveness of these markets hinges on one critical element: integrity." This comes off the back of our recently signed partnership with JAHQCC to enhance the standing of Japanese corporates by providing technical support and engagement opportunities for public and private sector organizations to engage in high integrity voluntary carbon markets. "We are here today because we recognize the role that Japanese companies and government officials play in the global climate action landscape. VCMI were delighted to speak at the Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership Center's panel on the development and best practice of high integrity carbon markets in Tokyo. Yesterday, our director of Policy and Partnerships Lydia Sheldrake joined Elchin Allahverdiyev, Chris Shipley, Puttipar Rotkittkhun, Masaaki Yamazaki and Anton Tsvetov in a productive discussion around how we can pragmatically achieve net zero by 2050.

📣 This September, VCMI will be opening a public consultation on further development of the proposed beta Scope 3 Claim. Scope 3 emissions are the most challenging for businesses to tackle. We urgently need new tools to make progress on #climate goals in line with the #ParisAgreement. Once finalized, VCMI’s #Scope3 Claim – currently in Beta version – will enable businesses to go farther, faster. Collaboration is at the heart of true progress, so we are inviting feedback from as broad a range of voices as possible, to help ensure the final Scope 3 Claim is robust and actionable.
