Today is a special day to recognise and celebrate the incredible individuals in the PKU community 🎉 Did you know that the 28th of June was chosen as the day to mark this occasion as it commemorates the birth dates of two pioneers who made significant contributions to the development of newborn testing and the low-protein diet for PKU? Horst Bickel and Robert Guthrie played instrumental roles in advancing the understanding and management of PKU. Their ground-breaking work in the field of newborn screening and the development of dietary approaches has had a profound impact on the lives of individuals with PKU and their families. Today we pay tribute to the dedication, resilience, and achievements of individuals living with PKU, as well as the researchers and healthcare professionals who continue to contribute to advancements in diagnosis, treatment, and support.
