Creating joy from grape to glass.

About us

Life is for living to the fullest, which for us means creating great tasting wines we know our customers will love and enjoying every step of the journey from grape to glass. Since launching in 2000, we’ve sold over 100 million bottles to wine lovers in the UK, offering every style imaginable, catering to all palates and preferences. We’ve built our range over the years by working hand in hand with talented independent winemakers across the globe to create and source exclusive wines, as well as using ratings and reviews from our customers to develop more of what they like. A big part of what makes us so unique in the wine world is that we like to turn our specialist subject into something that’s accessible and fun for all, from total beginners to seasoned pros. And as a Virgin brand through and through, we go that extra mile to deliver an experience that’s extraordinary. Cheers to that!

We adore sharing our wine wisdom and connecting with fellow wine enthusiasts at live events ❤️ This weekend, we pitched up our big red tent at Norwich Wine Week Festival to share our passion for delicious drops and our fantastic wine knowledge. We showcased six delicious wines, including a German rosé, our Brio Famoso and a delightful variety of old and new-world reds. Our Head of Buying, Sophie Lord, delivered an insightful talk uncovering the secrets behind the label, enhancing every wine lover’s appreciation of each bottle. As a special treat, we tucked golden tickets into the Norwich Wine Week goodie bags, offering lucky recipients the chance to enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine on us! Thank you to everyone who visited us and made Norwich Wine Week Festival a memorable event, here’s to more opportunities to share, learn and savour together 🥂

Here at Virgin Wines, we take pride in showcasing our team’s knowledge to foster trust and educate our audience. ❤️ To celebrate National BBQ Week, we asked our Head of Buying, Sophie Lord to showcase her outstanding knowledge by sharing her top three wines to enjoy with flame-grilled foods. From educating our audience on the unique flavour profiles to sharing personal food pairing recommendations, it really was a juicy piece of content. 🍇 And we’re not stopping there, with recommendations from our wine advisors alongside the rest of the buying team, keep your eyes peeled for more content 👉 https://bit.ly/3Xkm9gM

We've been raising a glass this afternoon to the fantastic news that we're shortlisted for multiple industry awards! Our team has worked incredibly hard over the last year to continue bringing excellent quality wines, unforgettable experiences and joyful moments to our customers, and we’re thrilled they're getting the recognition they deserve. At the International Wine Challenge Industry Awards 2024 we've been named as finalists for: 🌟 Wine Club of the Year 🌟 Online Retailer of the Year And at The Drinks Business Awards 2024 we're shortlisted for: 🌟 Online Retailer of the Year 🌟 Retail Buying Team of the Year 🌟 Best Drinks Event We know just how rigorous these judging panels can be, so we're extremely grateful for the recognition and proud to be named alongside some of our deserving peers. We will keep you posted on the results but, for now, keep your fingers (and glasses) crossed for us! #awardfinalists #announcement #awards #retail #celebratingsuccess

Giving our team opportunities to expand their wine knowledge and learn about our latest listings is super important to us. ❤️ That’s why we love to organise a ‘Make Time for Wine’ event – a dedicated space for people from across the business to get to know our talented winemakers whilst tasting their delicious wines. Recently, we invited Alex Hurley and Guy Young from London Cru to our Norwich office to delve deeper into their style of winemaking and what it's like being the first urban winery in London. We also swirled and sipped our way through the London Cru listings our Head of Buying, Sophie Lord, has recently added to our website – ▪️ London Cru Pinot Noir 2022 ▪️ London Cru Blanc de Blanc English Sparkling ▪️ London Cru Chardonnay 2022 It’s an exciting time for winemaking here in the UK, and it’s safe to say London Cru are at the forefront of it, bringing viticulture to city life! The world of wine is a complex one… trust us, there is much more than meets the eye! Therefore, we understand the importance of giving team members the opportunity to expand their knowledge so they can feel confident communicating with our customers and partners. To do this, we give all team members the chance to enrol on a Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 2 Course in Wine. Taught by our Senior Wine Advisor and In House Educator, Iain Young, we cover everything from understanding winemaking processes to taking a closer look at the most popular grape varieties around the world. It’s a great course to gain a deeper understanding of wine. And, of course, we are always encouraging our team to further their knowledge by chatting to our wonderful wine buyers. #learningopportunities #WSET #wineeducation

Our buyers are always on a mission to expand our portfolio with more delicious wines from off the beaten track 🌎 Recently, Dave and Issy from our buying team ventured to Cahor in Southwest France, the home of Malbec. Even though this grape variety is now predominantly grown in Argentina, our buying team set themselves a goal to create a truly unique Malbec, putting Cahor back on the map for this style of red wine. From experimenting with new flavours and creating the perfect blend in Vinovalie, to roaming the beautiful Clos La Coutale vineyard and tasting some of their latest vintages, it’s fair to say this trip was a wine lover’s dream. Keep your eyes peeled for an exclusive new Malbec that will be dropping later this year 🍷 #winebuyer
