In 2023, solar panel fires went up six-fold when compared to 2019 - and it looks like 2024 is carrying on this trajectory. With inadequate regulations for fire detection, solar panels are often left terrifyingly susceptible. Frequently, the only way to detect a fire on a solar panel is with the human eye, which is often unsuspecting - especially when the solar panels are on top of multi-storey buildings like this one in London. And with threats from several sources, such as short circuits, debris, and overheating of the panels, associated cabling and inverters, this unreliable method of detection can be the difference between life and death. Unimpacted by the elements, linear heat detection is the perfect solution for early fire detection in the solar energy sector – and it can be easily retrofitted to any existing solar application. When it comes to fire safety, linear heat detection (LHD) is still relatively unheard of. But as the most efficient, cost effective and low-maintenance piece of fire detection equipment, we're keen to loop our network in! The cable itself acts as a heat detector, so when a physical or electronic change occurs, this is identified anywhere along the cable’s entire length. Once the temperature around the cable reaches a certain threshold, the cable can trigger an alarm and subsequently a suppression system. Here's a little insight into Thermocable's LHD solutions, courtesy of our directors, Tom Robst, Alice Ham and Philip Wilkie. #firedetection #firesafety #linearheatdetection #manufacturing #quality #compliance #yorkshirebusiness

A big shout out to our very own Production Operator, Colin Peacock, for supporting the Thorpe Edge Church of England-run Community Centre. The church not only hosts a day centre and a community cafe, it also supports local families who have been impacted by dementia. As the church wardens, Colin and his wife, Dawn, play significant parts in protecting our locals. Securing Thermocable's 'company sponsorship' funding to put towards the summer 'Community Fun Day' last weekend, Colin said; "I would like to say a massive thank you to Thermocable for the generous donation to help our Community Fun Day be the success that it was. Your help enabled us to feed our community through the 'pay as you feel' BBQ, allowing everyone to enjoy a meal no matter what their circumstances. With the meals came lots of great conversations where we able to help those in real need. Your continued help through the years enables to reach out into the community to make a real difference to those that need it and for that I Thank you." Supporting our local communities through volunteering and sponsorship, Thermocable always love seeing how our support helps others. #corporatesocialresponsibility #CSR #ESG #localcharity #givingback #responsiblebusiness #manufacturing #yorkshirebusiness

Thermocable - Linear Heat Detection reposted this
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 🚧 Our installation partner Veritas Contact has just wrapped up the second installation of our Linear Heat Detection Solution for Vistry Group at Hoxton. This innovative fire detection system, developed in partnership with Thermocable - Linear Heat Detection, is specifically designed for scaffolding structures. It’s a big step forward in construction safety, providing early detection of potential fire hazards during facade replacement. Our fire detection solution has earned us a spot at the Construction News Awards tomorrow evening. We'll be eagerly awaiting the results and hoping for a win. Here's to celebrating our strides in construction safety!

Since the Grenfell Tower Disaster 7 years ago, there has been much-needed pressure to ensure existing high rise buildings and residential properties are effectively protected against the devastating impacts of fire. But in the drive to ‘build back better’, there’s a huge safety risk that is being frequently overlooked – the fire safety of the temporary structures on every construction site. It is almost ironic that during construction and remedial works, the risk of a catastrophic fire can be significantly higher. There's a solution for that. Heat sensing linear heat detection cable can be installed along scaffolding runs to ensure optimum protection across all areas of the structure, using stainless steel braiding to protect it from any mechanical damage. Read the article below to find out more, including how Thermocable's collaboration with Ramtech Global has already delivered proven benefits. https://lnkd.in/eSbnxF3X #firesafety #firedetection #construction #manufacturing #linearheatdetection #passivefireprotection #activefireprotection #firestrategy

As Europe's first trade fair that combines passive, active and organisational fire protection, Thermocable are delighted to be exhibiting at #FeuerTrutz2024 in Nuremberg this week. Joining the SCHRANER GmbH Group, the day has already got off to a fantastic start. If you're at the event, come across and chat to our Key Customer Account Manager, Ewa Zamolska, about all things #linearheatdetection (LHD). As a versatile method of early fire detection, LHD is unaffected by dirty, dusty, damp and humid environments, and is a low maintenance part of any business' fire strategy. #Exhibition #Germany #firedetection #firesafety #passivefire #activefire #firestrategy #manufacturing

Working in partnership with Ramtech Global, we're extremely proud to have played a significant part in the design and implementation of this much-needed solution for safer cladding remediation projects. Government data estimates that approximately 12,500 residential buildings over 18 meters and an additional 78,000 buildings between 11 and 18 meters require assessment for cladding remediation. To perform necessary remediation work, contractors are erecting major scaffolding structures, which in turn adds an additional fire risk factor. Our Commercial Manager, Harry Buck, said: “In open aired environments, typical fire detectors can be prone to false activations. Linear heat cable is designed for these challenging conditions, while still providing early detection at the point of risk. This technology allows site managers to react more quickly and confidently to any activation. Integrating our skills with Ramtech’s experience, both in fire and water detection systems, has created a reliable solution to the cladding remediation operations taking place across the country. We’re already seeing such significant demand in the industry and look forward to protecting more sites.” https://lnkd.in/e6hbC8K9 #cladding #firesafety #innovation #temporarystructure #construction #fireprotection #firedetection #manufacturing

A big well done to our very own production operator, Nick Phillips, for donating much needed supplies to a local food bank in exchange for new training equipment for Wilsden Junior under 10’s sports club. Community matters to us here at Thermocable, and as a socially responsible employer, we are committed to giving back to local causes. As a result, each of our employees has the opportunity to apply for ‘company sponsorship’ – and in return, we ask them to undertake an activity that supports charitable endeavours. Seeing an opening to benefit from this initiative, Nick secured sponsorship for his son’s sports team, collecting food donations for a Bradford food bank across the entire month of April to ‘pay it forward’. Dedicated to corporate social responsibility, and supporting our colleagues, we love it when a plan comes together! #CSR #corporatesocialresponsibility #givingback #charity #responsiblebusiness #foodbank
