Unlearning is an underestimated part of good leadership. It helps you stay agile; it helps you find new (better) approaches. 👉 Unlearn your idea of what "normal" is. 👉 Unlearn "the way [you've] always done it." 👉 Unlearn your unconscious biases. 👉 Unlearn outdated ways of motivating/communicating with/leading your team. First, question your assumptions. Then, stay open to new ways of thinking. Be patient with yourself too. It takes time. #LeadershipSkills

Not sure who needs to hear this but: Extroverts aren't always better leaders 🙃 Harvard Business Review found introverted CEOs were more likely to be successful than extroverts. Ultimately, it doesn't matter whether you're extroverted, introverted, or a bit of both. Diversity is what truly matters. 👉 We need leaders who approach problem-solving differently. 👉 We need leaders who have - and accommodate - different communication styles. The most important leadership skill to develop? People skills. #Leadership

To have effective 1:1s, you'll need: ✅ An actual agenda. That you stick to. ✅ To talk about what really matters. ✅ To take notes and clarify action points. ✅ To repeat this weekly. Why? 67% of employees report working harder for a manager who cares about their growth (Harvard Business Review, 2016). So see what difference these 7 questions make to your relationship and their engagement. #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #Startup

Most people would rather have flexible working than a pay rise. (77% of workers would, actually.) Oh, and: 👉 Almost half of workers would REJECT a 15% pay increase if it meant keeping workplace flexibility. 👉 83% of UK workers think their flexible working policies need improvement. Sure, good pay is a great way to attract top talent. (Especially when you disclose the salary.) Don't stop there, though. Always remember: your colleagues have lives *outside of work* too. Nice feedback ≠ kind feedback. P.S. Who else *loved* LeeAnn Renniger's TED Talk on giving great feedback? 🤯 https://lnkd.in/gWkttSX
