The best learning happens in the wild. Helping young people reach new heights since ‘41. #MoreThanYouThink
About us
The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity that uses outdoor experiences and challenges to develop young people and equip them with skills for education, work and life. Founded in 1941, we now have six residential centres in the UK. We work with young people aged 9-24 through: • Education: students attending through their school, college or youth group • Early careers: apprentices and graduates attending through their employer or college • Summer adventures: young people attending independently How you can partner with Outward Bound: Learning and development – we are the behavioural development training provider of choice for many of the UK’s top apprentice and graduate employers as they recognise that our approach accelerates early careers' learning and delivers measurable business results. We are approved suppliers on the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers. Corporate supporters – connect with our fundraising team to understand how our tailored partnerships deliver lasting results for disadvantaged young people and real benefits to your company. If you/your organisation would like to find out more about how you can work in partnership with us, please call 01931 740000 or visit www.outwardbound.org.uk We have a zero-tolerance policy towards hate speech in our online spaces. It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since we partnered with Equip Outdoor Technologies! If we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, the traditional gift would be wood. 🌲 Fitting, as just like logs on a campfire, Equip UK's support has fuelled incredible adventures for over 200 young people. Together, we've created transformative experiences for those who might otherwise miss out, guiding young people on a journey of learning and adventure to help them realise their potential. Thank you, Equip UK, for believing in our mission and helping to make a difference to those who need it most. Learn more about our partnership: 📰 Case Study: https://bit.ly/3RJadBI

There's lots of obvious safety gear at Outward Bound. Harnesses. Helmets. Buoyancy aids. But safety also comes in subtler forms. It can be a progress flag in the entrance hall. A pin on an instructor's gilet. For some young people, these items can be the most reassuring. They’re a silent signal that says, "We see you, we support you, and you can be yourself here." The outdoors has felt off-limits for too long – and we're on the road to changing that.

30 Seconds to Mars tour the UK this week! It’s been an action-packed month for frontman Jared Leto – before he embarked on the world tour, he completed the world's first abseil down the Empire State Building in support of Outward Bound. https://bit.ly/3UKmFTF #thebigrappel

It's almost baffling that corporate guests want to come to Outward Bound when we insist that they take a cold-water dip en masse. 🌊 Thankfully, our friends from the Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) were troopers and fully embraced the Jog and Dip during their visit to the Ullswater Centre last week. They spent the day exploring the site, walking, rowing and learning about everything we do to provide unforgettable adventures for young people. Glad you could make it!
