Today’s King’s Speech included welcome plans to introduce new legislation to boost affordable homebuilding, alongside positive commitments to tackle anti-social behaviour and devolve more power to local areas. Our Chief Executive, Andy Hulme, responded to the speech, saying: “We need a step-change in delivery to address the steep fall in the building of social housing. The positive attitude of the Prime Minister, Chancellor, and Housing Secretary towards delivering much-needed affordable homes gives us more confidence this will be delivered. Several of the bills outlined in the King’s Speech will be of real significance to our customers and the housing sector.” #UKHousing #SocialHousing #AffordableHousing

About us
The Hyde Group was established in 1967 to provide homes for those left behind by the market. We're an award-winning provider of homes, combining social purpose with entrepreneurial drive and professionalism. Hyde is one of the largest housing associations working in England, owning or managing circa 50,000 homes in London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, the East of England and East Midlands. This means that more than 100,000 residents have a home at a price at which they can afford, with long tenancies that give them the chance to improve their life chances. The homes that we build, as well as the ones we already own, include those for shared ownership, for social rent, for outright sale and for private rent. Hyde Housing Association is a not-for-profit organisation but our family of companies, which makes up the Hyde Group, includes charities and profit-making subsidiaries. The money that we make is used to build more homes for those excluded from the market. We’re pleased to see the publication of important research by the #LondonHomesCoalition, that we’re part of, looking at the skills shortage that threatens social housing providers’ delivery of investment in the homes we provide. The Building Skills for the Future report sets out detailed projections that there will be around 2,600 fewer skilled workers than needed to deliver the coalition’s planned investment programmes. Our Director of Communications & Public Affairs, Matt Rhodes, joined the panel at the launch event, saying: “We should position meeting the challenge of training and recruiting the skilled people we need to carry-out much-needed investment in the homes we provide as an opportunity to contribute to economic growth, and offering a stable and rewarding career.” You can read the report here: https://lnkd.in/gTj8DXec Inner Circle Consulting Whole Life Consultants Limited Peabody L&Q The Guinness Partnership Metropolitan Thames Valley SNG (Formerly Network Homes) Notting Hill Genesis Wates Group Plentific Axis Europe Fixatex Ltd Kinovo Group TMN CONTRACTORS LIMITED Langley Vital Energi Utilities Limited Switchee

#ICYMI Last week Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) Team Leader Craig Kendall took over Hyde's Instagram and Facebook stories to give an insight into some of the work that goes on to keep our customers and communities safe. At Hyde we have a zero-tolerance approach to ASB. Our dedicated team work alongside community partners, including the police, to investigate all reports of ASB, and we’re willing to do everything it takes to keep our customers safe. #UKHousing #AntisocialBehaviour #ASB #Communities

“As the borough lead for this community, I want to make sure that we’re building positive relationships with our customers and stakeholders in Brighton & Hove and I’m pleased to be leading this approach" Luke D., Director of Asset Management and Sustainability. We had a great turn out at our recent neighbourhood drop-in session for customers to voice their concerns, share their ideas and connect with us and each other. Thank you to Cllr Tim Rowkins and Customer Voice who also joined us for a walkabout of our Phoenix Estate. #UKHousing #Community

In her first speech to the Treasury today, the new chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves announced plans to reform the planning system and reintroduce mandatory local housing targets. Our Chief Executive Andy Hulme commented on the announcement: "There's a desperate need to build more homes in England. Research shows 8.5 million people in England are in housing need, and 4.2 million people would have their housing need fixed by being able to access social housing. The new government is correct that there is no time to waste to solve the housing crisis". https://lnkd.in/eG-dbyKe Inside Housing The G15 #UKHousing #SocialHousing #AffordableHousing

"I want to be able to support my residents to live the most independent lives they can. Most things are digital these days and I don’t want them getting left behind. So, I started the MyAccount workshops, which also support them with using the internet for things like online shopping, paying bills and keeping in touch with loved ones.” Kelly, Hyde Housing Scheme Officer. We're making sure that no one's left behind as we bring in more digital services for customers. We recently held a workshop at Scott Close, our later living scheme in Norbury, with Hyde colleagues supporting older residents to get online and use MyAccount to manage their homes. #UKHousing #DigitalInclusion

“I’m so proud of my colleagues – taking on 10K for justice in support of those who need life-changing free legal advice. "Over 13.4 million people live in poverty in the UK and advice providers are at breaking point. Many can’t afford legal help and we believe everybody should have access to justice and be able to receive legal advice and representation". Emily Giles, Housing Lawyer and organiser of the Hyde team. Our team of 46 walkers, from across Hyde, proudly walked with the Lady Chief Justice and joined over 18,000 lawyers and their colleagues from over 1,000 organisations to raise funds for London Legal Support Trust. We raised over £1,400 but we're still a little short of our target so please contribute if you can https://lnkd.in/ehuXHtAJ. #UKHousing #LondonLegalWalk
