Our graduate has performed at the highest level in netball, playing at - wait for this - international level, as well as dedicating over 20 years to the highest governance of her sport nationally and globally. She is zealous about her chosen sport and this enthusiasm is infectious. 🏚️ Why train with The Coach House? She said she chose The Coach House course because the training is accredited with real focus and a lovely level of support. 🚀 Business success Since completing the Coaching Certificate Programme she coaches older teens and adults at a London based club, is coaching young people for a netball franchise and is Head of Netball at an independent school. Not busy enough with that, she has set up her own netball club which has 60 children in it and is excited to be running a netball summer camp this month! 🌈 What's next for our high achiever? She is currently taking Level 3 netball coaching qualification which is the highest you can achieve in the sport. 🥊The values section of the Coach House course made our graduate reflect on what is important to her - she will now only work with, and for, organisations and individuals that share her values. We couldn't be prouder of our graduates when we hear how they are using their coaching skills and all the opportunities they have had to apply the confidence and skills they gained. Being good at communication is at the heart of coaching. Here are our Top 5 Tips for good communication ⤵️ Listen 🙉 Pay full attention to the person speaking. Let go of the urge to interrupt, problem solve, or offer an opinion. Hard isn't it! Ask questions ❓ Show curiosity. Understand better by asking the person’s opinion, brief etc. This helps you to craft a better response. Use their words 🗨️ Influence through using words the other person is using. Acknowledge 🙌 Show that you understand someone’s feelings and have heard their perspective by acknowledging, even just a simple 'mmm' or nod. "I hate getting feedback. I internalise it and it makes me feel bad" We can help you reframe how you feel about feedback and you need to do that because feedback is a gift. It really is! And who doesn't like gifts? 🎁 🚀 Feedback is just data. You can choose how you respond (not react) to it. It is often a person's opinion not fact 📚 Receiving feedback is an opportunity to learn, and it may not necessarily be about yourself. It can be more telling of the person giving it. Are you "Little Miss I'm not good enough"? Here are 3 things to think about to help change your perspective: 🌟 Nurture “Little Miss Worth It” You have the right to be optimistic and confident. You can turn negative feelings into positive goals. Some of the beliefs we have held since childhood hold us back as adults but now have no place in our thinking. 🗣️ Speak up, and ask for help. Take charge! Seek out opportunities and speak up. Make sure your voice is heard in meetings for example. Ask for the help of other women who might be great mentors or collaborators. 🚀 Be your own sponsor Practice self-promotion until you become comfortable with it . Spot the job opportunities, promotions, or speaking slots that suit you and ask about them. If you don’t get a “yes,” follow up with “Why not me?” . Pitch yourself and even if it is still a no you will have valuable feedback and experience. Each time you do it will get less scary - honestly! 🌈 Save this post and look back on our tips during moments of self-doubt. Remember, everyone gets them, at all levels, and it's how you overcome it that counts. Lots of the things we talk to coachees about are encapsulated in the GROW Model. Have you heard of it? The acronym GROW gives us a powerful framework that can inspire, clarify, and drive change for the better. We use it to set up the path for continuous learning and growth. This is what GROW stands for: 🎯 GOAL: Set yourself goals that inspire and energize you. An inspiring goal boosts self-motivation and commitment. A clear target you can feel excited about means you won't be facing an overwhelming goal that simply leaves you tempted to avoid it and procrastinate! 🔍 REALITY: Take time to really assess your current situation and inner thoughts. What is your reality and how did you get here? Greater clarity and self-awareness leads to recognition of what's holding you back. It's hard but it's worth it. 💡 OPTIONS: List and sort all the possibilities and strengths to increase creativity and choices. Brainstorm various paths and resources available to you to give yourself options for growth. 🚀 WILL: Put in place the steps that give you the will to move forward. Define actions, set accountability and means to gather feedback which will create the conditions for continuous learning.
