The British Fashion Council has laid out a five-point list of priorities for the incoming government. Though some, like the restoration of tax-free shopping for tourists, don’t appear to be on the cards, others could gain more support. Fashion didn’t get a mention in Labour’s manifesto, but the party has indicated it wants to support creative industries with more apprenticeships and emphasis on the arts in schools. In a tumultuous election year where more than two billion people around the world will go to the polls, the UK’s national vote this week has been decidedly predictable. The country’s left-leaning Labour Party is on course for a landslide victory, delivering a crushing defeat to the Conservatives with counting still underway at publication. But while the British electorate have resoundingly voted for change, the country’s new leadership is not expected to dramatically shift the landscape on key issues for the fashion sector. In fact, perhaps the most significant takeaway for the industry is the lack of drama this seismic defeat for the UK’s ruling party of 14 years is likely to bring in an increasingly polarised world. Incoming Prime Minister Keir Starmer has pledged to deliver stability. Against a wider backdrop of political chaos, with populist and far right leaders in ascendance, that may be just what British fashion needs. One/Size and IGK Hair are evaluating their next steps. As 2024 revenues are projected to reach $115 million for One/Size and $80 million for IGK, Miami-based brand incubator Luxury Brand Partners, LLC Partners has tapped investment bank The Sage Group, LLC (US) Group as a financial advisor. One/Size, created in partnership with O.G. YouTube influencer Patrick Starrr, and IGK Hair have seen considerable growth as of late. One/Size's business has quadrupled in the last two years, while IGK Hair grew its direct to consumer sales by nine times between 2021 and 2023, said Luxury Brand Partners founder and chief executive Tev Finger. Before founding LBP, Finger got his start at Bumble and Bumble, which later sold to the Estée Lauder Companies in 2000. The company had a continued track record of getting deals done in the late 2010s – it sold Becca Cosmetics to ELC and hair care label Oribe to Kao in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Now, Finger said both One/Size and IGK Hair are carefully weighing a number of options. BoF's Daniela Morosini has the scoop on how LBP has scaled One/Size and IGK Hair and what it is looking for next.
