🩺 laura donnelly reports: GPs have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action. The British Medical Association said 98.3 per cent of the 8,500 GPs voting were in favour of the measures, which will begin taking effect on Thursday. Doctors have been told they can “pick and choose” from measures designed to wreak chaos across the #health service. 🖊 David Axe writes: Chinese and Russian bombers flew together into the air-defense identification zone (ADIZ) surrounding Alaska on July 24, prompting US and Canadian forces to launch a peaceful interception and escort mission. Such encounters between rival warplanes in national ADIZs aren’t unusual – and at no point was there major risk of escalation. But the aerial encounter was a reminder of China’s expanding long-range air power – and it underscores the high stakes as the #Americans scramble to devise countermeasures. Throughout the Cold War as well as in more recent decades, Russian air force bombers and long-range patrol planes have been frequent visitors to the vast air-defense zones around US borders – especially around Alaska, which at its closest is just 55 miles from Russia.
