🔵 Conservative leadership hopeful Mel Stride has blamed Nigel Farage for “fuelling conspiracy theories” in the wake of the Southport stabbings. The shadow pensions secretary condemned #socialmedia posts by the Reform leader after the killings of three young girls and subsequent riots across the country on 29 July. Mr Farage speculated in an online video whether the “truth is being withheld” amid rumours falsely identifying the suspect as an asylum seeker who arrived in the #UK in a boat last year. During the subsequent unrest, he shared a post by Zia Yusuf, the Reform chairman, claiming that “nobody has done more to sow division” than “race-obsessed #Labour”. In an interview with Sky News, Mr Stride said: “I think one element of this debate [that] has been skated over, and shouldn’t have been actually, are the remarks made by Nigel Farage." 🚗 Bargain-hunting consumers are fuelling a surge in used electric vehicle (#EVs) sales amid a slowdown in the new car market. Some 46,773 secondhand electric #cars changed hands from April to June this year, an increase of 53pc compared to the same period last year. That represented a record 2.4pc share of total used #sales, up from 1.7pc previously, according to the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). #Petrol and diesel vehicles accounted for 92.4pc combined, with hybrids making up the remainder.
