I love golf, but I’m not very good at it. So I asked myself, how can I make myself feel better about losing golf balls (an unfortunately frequent occurrence)? Then (like a shank off the tee with no shout of “fore right”) it hit me. Branded golf balls. Every time I lose a ball, I’m technically marketing Stratom right? Immediately placed an order for 5 dozen Vice Golf balls branded with our logo. Looking forward to their debut this weekend at the The Inspiration Club with Abid Mumtaz. If you find a Stratom golf ball while playing there, do take a photo and tag me in it and I’ll send you a sleeve. On a separate note, why is “below par” used to describe something bad? Can’t think of anything I want more than to be below par…

What a fantastic first day at Accountex London 2024!🎉 I captured several moments, notably Francesca Tricarico FMAAT’s session, which was both insightful and motivating. Her words challenged my introverted nature, urging me to overcome worries and maintain consistency in posting. Her journey into AAT even sparked thoughts of exploring accounting alongside my current pursuit of a master's in Brand Design. Another highlight was the panel featuring Ben Westerby, Ashley Leeds, Samantha Mitcham FMAAT and Nikolai Naylor. Their collective wisdom provided valuable insights applicable to my work at Stratom. Notably, their emphasis on building trust through authentic, relatable content resonated deeply, inspiring ideas for engaging posts like TaxTipTuesday and FunFriday. Amanda C. Watts’s session was so compelling that I stood for 40 minutes, absorbed in her expertise. Her discussion on KLT - Know, Like, and Trust - left me feeling like I'd completed a puzzle. On my way home, I listened to her podcast, which further solidified my admiration, and I eagerly recommend it. The Xero exhibit was equally engaging, offering a taste of their 'Practice Power Up' juice and opportunities for networking. With day one concluded, I eagerly anticipate day two.😉

Accountex day one complete ✨ What a day! I was involved in a minor car crash this morning (I’m absolutely fine) and contemplated turning around to go home, it’s fair to say I’m so glad I didn’t. Highlights: ❣️ Stratom Team photo (missing Neel Patel Sadaqat Hussain Mansel Turnham and Danish Ali behind the camera) ❣️ Meeting Rachel Harris for a catch up on all things instagram and a lovely realisation we train in the same gym! See you soon for a workout! ❣️ Meeting Francesca Tricarico FMAAT for a phenomenal session on personal branding which has given me the inspiration to explore my own quirks! Also I could hear the Nottingham accent in Francesca from a mile away! ❣️ Quote of the day “attitude is everything and opportunities are everywhere” - Nick Elston

I used to hate our branding 😱   Hate is a pretty strong emotion to have about something you’ve looked at every day for the past 3 years. I just got used to it and stopped thinking about it after a while 😓   Most of our clients have come to us through a strong network of referrals💪 That means we’ve not spent much time on our branding, because we’ve never really gone out into the market to try and win work.   Whilst having a tonne of referrals is testament to our client service levels, it isn’t a great client acquisition model when trying to scale a firm 📈   We needed to change. We needed a branding and marketing strategy. But that stuff costs time and money…   We could just keep putting it off or we could just start somewhere and see what happens.   Some of the small changes we’ve made: 💡 We’ve dropped “Consulting” from our name 💡 We’ve got a new logo and brand colours 💡 We have a new website – please visit if you haven’t already - www.stratom.co.uk   One of the perks of getting a new logo is the merch. Check out our new Chilly’s x Stratom branded bottles. Let me know what you think? P.S. I’ll be picking some individuals at random from the comments and likes on this post to send a free Stratom branded Chilly's bottle.

I’ve never been a LinkedIn poster (this is my first one), but I thought it was a good time to start now that I’ve joined Stratom as a Partner. Some of my connections will know it’s been a tough few months for me personally. I’d like to thank Salim Rao and Nabeel Jasrai for welcoming me to the Stratom team and giving me the extra time to get into the full swing of things. It’s been a great experience so far and it was good to meet the London team (Sadaqat Hussain, Georgia Moir, Neel Patel, Awais Jasrai, Danish Ali) for lunch last Monday. One of the reasons I joined Stratom was because of the extra flexibility I would have to spend time with my son Benjamin. I’m not sure I was expecting him to get involved with the work this soon though! If any of my connections (or their connections) need support with tax or accountancy matters, please get in touch at mansel@stratom.co.uk or via LinkedIn.

🌟 Exciting news! 🌟   🎉 I'm thrilled to announce that as an AAT Level 2 apprentice, I've aced my first two exams! 🎉   💥 I'm proving that you don't need a university degree to excel in accounting. Through practical learning and dedication, I'm debunking the notion that all accountants follow the same path. 💪   👏 This achievement isn't just mine; it's a testament to the incredible guidance and support I've received from my firm, Stratom. Their commitment to nurturing diverse talent has empowered me to thrive in a dynamic environment. 🌱   🚀 Here's to breaking barriers and embracing success! 🚀   #AAT #Apprenticeship #CareerGrowth #Trailblazer #EmpoweredToSucceed

🔍 Choosing Your Accountant: Why Price Shouldn't Be Your Only Consideration In business, it's important to save money where you can, but sometimes the cheapest option can end up costing you more. 💸 As a partner at a professional accountancy firm, I've seen how choosing an accountant based mainly on price can lead to problems. Take this example from our work: We once helped a client who had previously used a more affordable local accountant with limited experience and qualifications. 🔍 When we reviewed their financial records, we found big mistakes in their VAT returns from the past few years. These mistakes had led to large unpaid taxes owed to HMRC. 💷 Fixing these issues ended up costing much more than what they initially saved by choosing a cheaper service. This experience shows that the quality of your accountant really affects your business’s health and success. While it's tempting to go for lower-cost options, the real value of professional accounting goes beyond just numbers. 📈 It brings peace of mind, reliability, and ensures that your business meets financial laws, helping you avoid heavy fines. Remember, fixing errors often costs more than preventing them. Choose your accounting services wisely. 💡 #Accounting #BusinessLeadership #ProfessionalServices
