Huge news. Thrilled to announce the arrival of Fred Paginton to Spring Studios London as our new Executive Creative Director. Fred is responsible for some of the most well-known work for luxury brands in recent years, including the Gucci loafer campaign featuring actor Paul Mescal, Moncler’s Spring/Summer 2024 campaign entitled 'An Invitation to Dream’, and the exhibition takeover of Milan's central station during design week featuring a cast of global visionaries such as Deepak Chopra, Isamaya Ffrench, Jeremy O. Harris and Daniel Arsham. Fred joins Spring from Dazed, where he was instrumental in evolving the iconic publishing brand’s commercial output, transforming Dazed Studio from a producer of branded content into a full service creative and advertising services model. During his tenure with Dazed, Paginton was awarded three British Arrows awards and a Ciclope for his work with Nike, as well as a Lovie award for the studio’s H&M Move global campaign. In his new role, Fred will work closely with Anouk Jans, ECD of Spring Milan, as they evolve Spring’s creative offering for a new generation. First stop – tonight's private view of ODE. https://lnkd.in/eYg_RVcW

A celebration of the special relationship BREITLING has shared with the surf community since the release of its first sea watch in 1957, Spring Studios London worked with Breitling to create The Breitling Book of Surfing, dedicated to the sport’s diverse characters, unexpected locations and collective culture.   In this collaboration with the watch brand and its publisher Rizzoli International Publications, Spring designed the book’s look and feel, acted as print consultants to, and supported surf expert Ben Mondy with storytelling.   Organised around interviews with surfers about the local communities they call home, The Breitling Book of Surfing is for long-term surfing enthusiasts and newcomers alike, exploring the common values and passions that shape this dynamic global community connected by the ocean.   The publication is available online and in art and photography bookshops - congratulations to the team involved.

It’s great to see the celebration and backing of Westman Atelier in recent weeks, from press to speaking events to retail. That’s the The Business of Fashion podcast hosting founders Gucci Westman and david neville to give the low-down on their brand, Gucci speaking at the Financial Times Weekend Festival in D.C on how to look amazing at every age, and Westman Atelier securing national distribution in the UK via Space NK. We loved working with Gucci Westman and David Neville’s team to design the Westman Atelier branding identity in preparation for launch back in 2018. As David says, Westman Atelier’s success comes from an uncompromising focus on quality, and this product truth has always lived at the heart of their strategy. Through carefully considered branding work, Spring Studios London reflected back Westman Atelier’s luxury, clean and professional credentials, and created an elevated platform for these high quality products to shine.

Our London president Susan Pratchett was featured in The Drum this morning sharing thoughts on Jacquemus' latest video series in Capri. Susan spoke about Jacquemus' success deploying well-known "surprise and delight" social media techniques - and how fashion is strongest when it offers escapism over shock tactics. Thanks to Amy Houston for the feature! https://lnkd.in/e2STTvCJ

Thank you Amy Houston for including comments from Susan Pratchett in The Drum’s discussion of Alexander Wang’s latest campaign.   It’s pretty clear to us that the campaign’s mixed reception is in part a result of the already troubled brand equity waters the label finds itself in. And, while video is good for a scroll, the brand should be digging deeper if they want to return to the heyday fame of the 2010s in a more substantial way.   Read the full write-up here: https://lnkd.in/eYxJZM-n

Is Alexander Wang’s viral lookalike ad a genius marketing move or deeply problematic? "I would drag him to court" and "This marketing is genuinely genius" are just two of the polarizing comments on an ad posted to the brand's Instagram account. The New York-based luxury fashion house has made headlines with an 'unboxing' style video featuring lookalikes of Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Kylie Jenner, and Taylor Swift to promote a new bag. However, it is a bold move. Lookalikes have found viral fame online but its often to the dismay of the real celebrities they imitate. Its also a rogue idea for a brand that has faced major reputational issues over the years. Will it pay off or further damage its image? I spoke with experts in the luxury fashion world to get their hot takes. Thanks Rankin R., Seen Studios' Katie Mitchell and Spring Studios' Susan Pratchett for your wisdom. Link to the story is in the comments. #luxury #fashion #marketing #advertising
