Fabian K., our EVP for Asia, joined the #AtoZero Asia 2024 Summit, part of #Ecosperity Week 2024 by #Temasek in Singapore earlier this week. Is #LNG truly necessary for Asia’s energy transition, or is it merely a stopgap solution amidst the absence of better alternatives? In a thought-provoking panel alongside industry leaders, Fabian's insights underscored the complexities of Asia's energy transition journey in a highly diverse region. “Asia comprises countries with different transition strategies, different stages of economic development, different levels of carbon taxes, and different energy subsidies. The gas system won’t disappear tomorrow, and LNG has a part to play in an increasingly diverse energy mix to mitigate reliability challenges with renewables until the widespread commercial deployment of low carbon energy sources and storage," Fabian noted. "However, the LNG industry will increasingly be in the crosshairs, facing scrutiny from both financing and regulatory requirements. It will need to deploy a wide range of toolkits to minimise and mitigate fugitive methane emissions, and not just carbon dioxide emissions.” #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #Innovation
