2024 CDMO forecast 💭 2 years post pandemic and the CDMO industry has seen a collection of highs and lows, from expansions and investment to lay offs and closing of facility’s. 💰 However, it still remains one of the top biopharma fields; in terms of revenue and exciting science. 👩🏼🔬 In fact…. the CDMO market is poised to outpace overall pharma growth through 2028! So what should they be doing in 2024 to keep the market growing? 1. Embracing advanced therapeutics 2. Building trust with partners 3. Nudging regulators on novel production approaches. Unsurprisingly, oncology represents the fastest-growing CDMO market and injectables represent the largest looming revenue opportunity for CDMOs, followed by oral medications. 💊 But, companies are still facing funding struggles… There's a huge emphasis on milestones, which drugmakers typically have to pass to unlock more funding and continue workflow. Did you know??? Enlisting a CDMO earlier in the development lifecycle can help biopharmas secure funding. 💡 Due to rise in costs in 2020/2021, companies resorted to manufacturing the drugs themselves and building expensive to run facilities.
