We've released our half year results showing stable performance as we ramp up our investments in growth. "This is being driven by the disciplined investments we're making to strengthen our operations and progress major projects for profitable organic growth," Chief Executive Jakob Stausholm says. Nadia is a magnetohydrodynamic modelling expert who works at our research and development centre in France. 🔬 What's a magnetohydrodynamic modelling expert? Well, she's a physicist who specialises in studying liquids that conduct electricity in the presence of magnetic field. "From its fundamentals in physics, to modelling, to practical applications within plants and experimental measurements, my work allows me to interact with people from many different fields – like engineers, operators and scientists," Nadia said. "Collaborating with colleagues and partners in many diverse fields is the best way to not only achieve a great outcome as a business, but to also improve yourself." #physics #FindingBetterWays #RioExpert

We've partnered with Aymium to find better ways to use biocarbon as a substitute for fossil fuels since 2022. Our partnership has reached a new milestone: the creation of Évolys, a biocarbon joint venture to manufacture a renewable metallurgical biocarbon product to reduce carbon emissions in large scale industrial processes. Évolys will be established at the site of a former pulp mill in Thurso, Quebec, ensuring access to readily available biomass residues. This means locally produced, high-quality biocarbon that reduces the carbon footprint of our Quebec operations and is in line with our commitment to decarbonisation. #FindingBetterWays

With our venture Nuton, we're taking steps to explore ways to unlock more copper across the globe. In Peru, at the AntaKori Project, together we’re evaluating options to develop a large copper sulphide resource that is not easily accessible through traditional processing. For Azariah, helping the next generation become successful in what they want to do warms his heart.  "I feel so proud when I see the boys graduate on that last day. There are a lot of tears shed on both sides," Azariah said. "Seeing them walk out the school gates with their chests out, big smiles on their faces, knowing that we'll always be there for them." Azariah is a Director at the Clontarf Foundation in Australia. He works with young Indigenous men, encouraging them to stay in school and achieve their potential. Our Q2 results are in — we're growing with discipline in the materials the world needs for the energy transition, with improvements at our bauxite and copper operations. “Our operational performance continues to progress," Rio Tinto Chief Executive Jakob Stausholm said. "While there are still significant improvements ahead, we're beginning to see a step-change in production from our Queensland bauxite business following the roll-out of the Safe Production System. "Construction of the Simandou high grade iron ore project in Guinea is advancing at pace, the ramp up of the Oyu Tolgoi underground is on track and we are set to achieve first production from the Rincon starter plant by the end of the year." #FindingBetterWays #results
