As we all wake up this morning to a new political landscape, especially here in Gloucestershire. The General Election was a chance to use your voice and this has been done. We are already reaching out to our county's MPs to form those connections needed to help move our community forward, and address the issues at hand. However, we remember that this is just the beginning and our fight for equality is not over yet. Whilst reversing some of the toxicity surrounding the LGBTQ+ community in Government, especially the trans community, will be easier there are still some areas lacking in the new Government's manifesto that need to be addressed. And then there is the matter that promises made need to be kept. The ban on conversion therapy has been promised time and time again but not delivered, England needs an effective HIV action plan, healthcare for Trans* people needs immediate attention. The requirements and process for a GRC needs to change, poor mental health is a critical problem for us that needs attention and our schools and teachers need the support they want, to ensure LGBTQ+ children and young people are properly supported. Lastly Hate Crime just keeps growing and needs to be addressed. Pride in Gloucestershire will continue with our campaigning and work with other LGBTQ+ organisations to ensure progress is made. #YoureTheVoice #PrideInGloucestershire

A great example of how businesses can work to understand the LGBTQ+ community. Thank you to The Raikes Journal and Willans LLP solicitors for the coverage you have given on the importance of inclusion in business.
Willans LLP solicitors probably never thought the simple act of flying a flag would get it so much attention, but it has - and revealed a firm on an exciting journey. If you are wrestling with what 'inclusivity' looks like for a company, this might give you a good idea - and a sense of the massive impact your efforts to achieve it could have on your community. Special thanks to Richard Stevens and Simon Merrell, Chartered FCIPD for their insight too! On this particular edition of The Raikes Journal we also help Sarah Cook and her team at HR People Support Ltd celebrate a special business birthday. Cook has become a key figure in the Cheltenham business community, and her own journey is inspirational - but then so is five years in business! ProCook, one of the firm's featured in our Top 100 Businesses in Gloucestershire series, reveals plans to open more high street shops, confident it will grow turnover by £40m, Mears Group PLC predicts a better than expected 2024 after announcing considerable half-year profits, Cheltenham BID is challenging you to a game of darts, and Randall & Payne LLP and WSP Solicitors to take on its annual quiz, compered by Faye Hatcher no less and in aid of Teckels Animal Sanctuaries and Young Gloucestershire. Oh, the quiz night features pizza too, if that helps sway you! #gloucestershire #glosbiz Business West Cheltenham Chamber Of Commerce Fiona Hughes Silas Miller Willans LLP solicitors Invest in Gloucestershire The Growth Hub - Gloucestershire Flight Club Darts Daniel O'Neill Claire Tait #growth

Fantastic news from Asia! There are still many challenges in this part of the world but each step forward is a step worth celebrating!
🎉Good news! Thailand has made history by passing a marriage equality bill, making it the first country in Southeast Asia to recognise same-sex marriage. 🌈 A monumental moment for LGBTQ+ rights in Asia. Congrats to all involved! https://bit.ly/4b7fVUJ.

There are less than 5 days left to register to vote in this year's extremely important general election. All the main parties have now published their manifestos detailing what they claim to be promising to deliver if they are elected. We will be bringing you more details on these and highlighting what they contain in relation to our LGBTQ+ community over the forthcoming weeks. For now the most important thing EVERYONE needs to do is to register to vote, it is straight forward and done online using the link below. Without registering you wont have a voice on the 4th July. https://lnkd.in/dBR7ZwQ The deadline for registering to vote is 11.59pm on 18th June. #YoureTheVoice #GeneralElection2024 #PrideInGloucestershire
