In May I had the brilliant opportunity to present my individual impact project through the 2024 30 under 30 Climate change makers scheme through Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful 🌏 in the beautiful room2 hometels | B Corp™ in Belfast. My individual impact project focused on the use of SAP 2009 software to calculate EPCs in Northern Ireland and the possible exclusion of Green home mortgages through this. I'm still very much looking forward to forming some sort of community group of energy assessors and retrofit coordinators alike to come together to discuss ideas and create recommendations and plans for Northern Ireland to advance in this field. Yesterday saw the latest 30 Under 30 Climate Change-Makers’ workshop in the 2024 programme, where we were lucky enough to be joined by Conor McKinney from Wild Belfast. Connor took the group through a fascinating workshop examining the significance of biodiversity loss in Northern Ireland and practical actions that can be taken to ensure nature's restoration and protection. The cohort also had the opportunity to hear from 30 Under 30 alumni Rachel Vaughan and Ralph Lavery and had the opportunity to share their individual project plans with their peers, setting out their stalls for innovation and exploration in the coming months. Huge thanks goes to Coca-Cola HBC for generously hosting us at their Lisburn site, as well as their continued support of the programme, Christopher Allen and Translink for a very informative talk on the positive work underway on their sustainability agenda and for coordinating transport on the day, and FareShare UK for their inspirational presentation in the afternoon.
