A jam packed 8 days, with 53 delegates, 14 hosts, and covering over 900miles from LA via San Fran to Sonoma county. 🚜 Farm update 🚜 📸 Photo 1 shows Blackcurrants ready for picking on a summers day in July, 2023. We’ve had this plantation for just over 20 years. 📸 Photo 2 shows our recently planted cover crop on a grey October day. It includes: Tillage & Fodder Radish - a deep rooted brassica used to improve soil structure. The deep tap structure of the radish gives it the ability to break through compacted layers. Mustard - quick growing and green manuring! Phacelia - Big on biomass and increasing soil matter once incorporated (we use it in our wild flower strips too) Black oats - establishes quickly and perfect for weed suppression. In the spring we will change over to Italian Rye grass and Phacelia to have a the perfect soil for more juicy Blackcurrants to go in during October 2024 💜 🌿 🍃 👨🌾
