GO!PHA is currently at the UN Environment Programme Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya for the ongoing negotiations on a Global Plastics Treaty. In anticipation of these important discussions, we have formulated a Call to Action: We applaud the United Nations' ongoing efforts in leading the initiative to combat plastic pollution, bringing nations together to address this pressing global concern. As the world grapples with the environmental challenge of plastic waste, GO!PHA calls on the United Nations and global leaders to acknowledge the vital role of safe and environmentally sound alternatives and substitutes like PHA biopolymers in mitigating this issue. We therefore urge the prominent positioning of safe and environmentally sound alternatives and substitutes in the UN Plastics Treaty negotiations. Let's seize this opportunity to make a positive impact together, protect the Earth, and leave a legacy of environmental responsibility for future generations. We did it again! Last week our team had a successful second fermentation run at the University of Cambridge, MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit to produce PHAs for biomedical applications at a large scale. First of all, we would like to thank Dr Shane Palmer for his amazing help and support, starting early in the morning and being there for us until late in the night during the whole week. We have been very lucky to work with you in this project. We would like to thank David Pate for getting all the paper work and H&S measures ready and allowing us to carry out the work in Cambridge. Thank also #UKRI for funding this work through the Impact Accelerator Award proposed by Ipsita Roy and David Alexander Gregory. Last week PHAsT had an amazing week at the University of Cambridge in the MRC Mitrochondrial Biology Unit upscaling our fermentation PHA process to the 100L scale. Ending up with yields we could only have dreamed of! We would like to thank Shane Palmer in particular who went above and beyond to support us for the duration of the week! Absolutely phenominal support! Also we would like to thank David Pate for his support to get our paperwork all signed off at very short notice. Finally, a thank you to the #UKRI for making this work possible through the funding of an Impact Accellerator Grant proposed by Ipsita Roy and myself. I was joined in Cambridge by the fermentation team which included: Andrea Mele, Syed Mohammad Daniel Syed Mohamed, Emmanuel Asare.
