  • As a fashion graduate, most of us want to work in premium/luxury, where we can be super creative and work with beautiful fabrics.. however, the reality is, High Street is the biggest sector for entry level (paid) design roles. To be successful at High Street level - you should have a commercial design portfolio - your portfolio is your visual CV, it needs to be relevant to the role you are applying for. Here are some insider tips for you: 👉 Be selective—include pieces that showcase your versatility, creativity, and technical skills. Remember, quality matters more than quantity. 👉 Market Awareness: Tailor your portfolio to the type of role you're seeking, make sure you show, relevant, commercial work with a similar aesthetic 👉 If you don't have relevant work examples for the brand you are applying to, you may want to pull together a project or Range for a specific brand or market segment. Create a mini collection—a cohesive set of designs that share a theme or aesthetic - this will make your application stand out for sure. 👉 Include Concept boards - these are visual summaries of your design process. Include mood boards, fabric swatches, colour palettes, and any other elements that influenced your work. These give insight into your thought process and creativity. 👉 Highlight different product categories you have worked on and remember to demonstrate your understanding of garment construction and proportions. 👉 Most Importantly - Include Technical Drawings: Day to day, your unlikely to have the time for beautiful illustrations, its super important to include your technical drawings (flats) that show details like seams, stitching, closures, and measurements. This demonstrates your practical knowledge, and what would be sent to the factory! Your portfolio will evolve with you, as you create new work or gain more experience, update it regularly. • Summer is over in UK Fashion Terms... June's chill put a dent in our summer vibes and high street hopes alike. As temperatures took a dip, so did the spending on summer essentials, with clothing taking the hardest hit. 🌦️📉 It turns out, 39% of Britons tightened their purse strings, spending less on summer gear compared to last year. Clothing sales? Down by 7.7% year-on-year. Even some fashion brands reshuffled their sale calendars in response to the cool start to June. But as the sun peeked through, the tills began to warm up a bit. ☀️🛍️ Sheltering from the dreary weather, people found comfort in takeaways, digital content, and entertainment, giving these sectors a silver lining to those cloudy days. 🍔💻 While rainy days dampened the UK's holiday spirit, it seems the lure of distant shores remained strong, with holidaymakers saying 'yes' to overseas adventures and causing a spike in bookings with travel agents and airlines. 🛫🏖️ As we edge into the latter part of the summer, let's keep our mood buoyant and hope for warmer days! ❤️✨ Drop a comment to share some sunny vibes! . 🌟😎 #RetailTrends #FashionIndustry #ConsumerSpending

  • Preparing for an interview? It's good to practice the S.T.A.R method… The STAR method is a powerful technique for answering behavioural interview questions. Let's break it down: 1.Situation (S): Start by describing the context or situation you faced. Set the scene for your interviewer. For instance, "In my previous role at XYZ Company…" 2.Task (T): Explain the specific task or challenge you needed to address. What was your responsibility? For example, "I was tasked with improving customer satisfaction scores." 3.Action (A): Share the actions you took to tackle the situation. Be detailed and focus on your role. Use action verbs. For instance, "I implemented a new feedback system, conducted training sessions, and actively listened to customer concerns." 4.Result (R): Discuss the positive outcomes of your actions. Quantify if possible. For example, "As a result, customer satisfaction increased by 20%, and we received fewer complaints." This will really help you to explain your knowledge and experience in a professional and structured way. If you would like more examples of competency-based interview questions or any other assistance, you can find some advice and tips on our website 😊 https://lnkd.in/eGdtMbvt

  • Armani Privé redefine timeless at Haute Couture Week in Paris! 🌟 The AW24 collection was a masterclass in the eternal elegance of pearls. Armani's 89 looks - a nod to his own age - were a serene blend of soft-cut suits, black velvet with pearlescent touches, and sparkling gowns reminiscent of 1920s Italy. 👗 Classic shapes meet a modern mindset, all paired with comfy flats. Black, white, and metallics dominated, while pearls and sequins added a touch of luxe.🖤 A simple strapless silk dress with a pearl-encrusted hem turned heads - pure Mediterranean magic. The tranquillity of fluid lines and the nostalgia of vintage cuts made this show a standout. As Armani approaches his 90th, it felt like a tribute to his career's finest moments, all while keeping that signature Armani glamour alive. This collection wasn't just about fashion; it was a statement that elegance is as timeless as pearls themselves. #ArmaniPrive #HauteCouture #TimelessElegance
