About us
Parkol Marine Engineering Ltd. is a ship building and vessel repair company based in North Yorkshire with shipyards in Whitby and Middlesbrough. We offer a full range of marine engineering services to the fishing and workboat industries. Services provided include overhauls, repair, modification and maintenance of vessels. We also build new vessels ranging in size from 15m to 35m: trawlers, gill netters, seiners, crabbers, scallopers, feed carriers (to name a few). Parkol has built 52 vessels since 1997 for clients all over the UK ranging from the Shetlands Islands, East and West Coast of Scotland, Cumbria, Yorkshire Coast, Pembrokeshire to Cornwall and Devon. In 2021 Parkol built its first export to Republic of Ireland and is building a second Irish vessel at the moment. We have an in-house team providing the following services: steel and aluminium fabrication; mechanical and electrical engineering; hydraulics and pneumatics; painting, shot-blasting, hot zinc spraying.

As PARKOL MARINE ENGINEERING LTD make great progress on North Eastern Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority's Newbuild, David McCandless and Ian Davies are looking to find a new home for their previous Patrol Vessel; "North Eastern Guardian III" Built in Finland in 2007, to UK Workboat Code standards, ‘North Eastern Guardian III’ is a 26m aluminium hulled, semi displacement vessel, operational since October 2007, powered by twin Caterpillar C32 1044 KW engines. The vessel has been maintained to an excellent standard with various items having been replaced throughout the lifetime of the vessel. Our new build 057 Daystar FR 86 was announced a winner of The Fishing News 'Over 15m Boat of the Year' Award! We are very proud of this achievement and would like to thank everyone who'd been involved in building this outstanding vessel - Parkol workers, sub-contractors and suppliers. Thank you! We would like to thank the skipper Stephen West for giving us the opportunity to build Daystar. Huge congratulations to Stephen, his family and the crew!

On bank holiday Sunday 5th May Whitby visitors and locals watched our latest new build – Admiral Blake PH 440 (Build No.060) leaving Whitby harbour. She will be sailing to her homeport of Plymouth where a big celebration in her honour is being held later this month. Sistership to Parkol’s Build No.058 Admiral Gordon, Admiral Blake is an identical vessel with minor variations to her specification.
