An independent SMO partner providing the right patient, for the right trial, at the right time.

About us

Panthera is an independent SMO working with pharmaceutical and contract research organizations to find the right patient, for the right trial, at the right time through the recruitment and retention of patients at its own dedicated research sites. Comprised of industry experts the Panthera team has come together to provide a professional, flexible and independent solution for clinical trials. Dr Ian Smith, the founder of Synexus (the world’s largest SMO) is one of the founders of Panthera along with Professor John Lyon, previously a global executive in CRO Covance. Jane Restorick has joined Panthera as Chief Operating Officer. Jane has extensive global experience in clinical trials and held the positions of COO and Chief Patient Officer at Synexus. Panthera is aimed at recruiting patients for and running clinical trials in therapy areas which are traditionally managed in primary care including: • Cardiac disease, • Allergies, • Migraine, • Osteoarthritis, • Osteoporosis, • Diabetes etc. Panthera intends to utilise innovative digital technologies to make clinical trials more accessible than ever for patients, customers and research staff and ensure that emerging technologies enabling the digitisation and virtualisation of trials is core to its strategy. Panthera clinical trial sites have been designed to welcome patients and ensure they have a professional and superior experience. All sites offer accessibility, comfortable surroundings and dedicated time with doctors and nurses to ensure the patients fully engage in the studies and are fully compliant. Sites are fitted with dedicated sample processing laboratories ensuring all trial processes are managed by fully qualified technical staff. All the professional staff at all Panthera sites are GCP trained, and have considerable experience in the running of clinical trials and providing timely, accurate data.

We are delighted to announce we were the highest group fundraisers at the recent Race for Life 10k at Heaton Park in Manchester. Jane Bullock, Cancer Research UK (CRUK) spokesperson in the North West, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the team at Panthera and their amazing fundraising efforts. No matter how cancer affects us, life is worth racing for. Sadly nearly 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. Race for Life has the power not only to transform lives, but to save them. We’re proud that Race for Life has already helped double survival rates in the UK.” Money raised has helped develop radiotherapy which benefits more than 130,000 people with cancer in the UK every year. Cancer Research UK funded scientists led the development of the Human Papillomavirus Virus vaccine, which is expected to prevent almost 90 per cent of cervical cancers in the UK. The charity also funded many large clinical trials looking at the effectiveness of the drug tamoxifen and the research shaped the way the drug is used to treat breast cancer today. Well done to every member of the team who took part! We're proud of you!

Panthera employees have been providing career advice to students across the country over the past week. Panthera Key Account Manager, Sairah Yassir-Deane, visited Marlborough Road Academy today to talk about the important work Panthera does in excelling clinical research and her career journey in this vital healthcare sector. Many of the children hadn't heard of clinical research or Panthera prior to Sairah's visit, underlining the importance of such community engagement to raise local awareness. Sairah said, "It is fantastic being able to deliver talks about careers with Panthera and in clinical research in general, as these are the career paths that aren't always as showcased as others. Being part of research is so important and it is great to share how much impact our roles in this sector have on people's health and well being" Contracts Manager Molly McPherson visited St Christopher's Sixth Form in Accrington as part of their Pathways to Law programme for year 12 students. Molly covered studying law at undergraduate and post graduate levels and the Bar Professional Training Course. She also discussed the difference between working for a law firm and working in house for a private company in a legal role. Thank you to all staff/students who made the visits possible and gave such a warm welcome!
