Almost 10 years ago, Georgiana and I first met whilst sat in a Harley Street waiting room waiting to be interviewed for an Optimax position. 10 years later and we've both progressed within the company and are both still loving our work at Optimax. We are blessed to be working alongside some incredible team mates and get to look after our wonderful patients on a daily basis. Thank you Keith and the awesome Milton Keynes team for a great day with you on Thursday. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Optimax Eye Surgery Specialists Jane Charman Keith Lo . . . #nomoreglasses #lasik #lasek #patientcare #teamappreciation #grateful #visioncorrection #refractivesurgery #optometry #Surgery #RefractiveSurgery #opthalmology #optometrist

  • LONG-TERM VISION PROBLEMS LINKED TO SMOKING You have probably heard about how smoking causes lung disease and cancer, but did you know that smoking harms your eyes too? This doesn’t only apply to cigarettes; vaping solutions are just as dangerous, and in any case, they often have much higher nicotine levels than cigarettes. While they do not produce tar or carbon monoxide, they do have other chemicals with known and unknown negative effects. The photos here show some of the vision problems that can be worsened by smoking, vaping, or a combination of the two. Eye health is something you should take seriously, so tone down on the puffs. #smoking #vaping #dryeyes #amd #neuropathy #glaucoma #retinopathy #eyecare #eyehealth #lifestyle #optimax

What Do You Know About Dry Eye Syndrome? Learn how it impacts your vision, and ways to manage it! July is National Dry Eye Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about Dry Eye Syndrome and educating the public on its symptoms and treatment options. Dry Eye Syndrome occurs when your tears can't provide adequate lubrication for your eyes. This can happen if you don't produce enough tears or if the quality of your tears is poor, causing them to evaporate too quickly. As a result, your eyes may feel dry, irritated, and uncomfortable. In the UK, about one-third of the adult population suffers from dry eye syndrome. The photos below highlight crucial information about this condition, including its risk factors, symptoms, long-term effects, and available treatments. To learn more about Dry Eye Syndrome and discover how Optimax can help, visit our website through the link below: https://lnkd.in/eC82D-_z #dryeyesyndrome #dryeyes #dryeyeawarenessmonth #eyesurgery #eyecare #eyehealth #vision #lifestyle #optimax

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT CATARACTS, AND WHY IS CATARACT SURGERY ONE OF THE BEST INNOVATIONS IN EYE HEALTH HISTORY? Cataracts, a common condition in older adults, occur when the lens develops cloudy patches. Over time these patches usually become bigger causing blurry, misty vision and eventually blindness. When we're young, our lenses are usually like clear glass, allowing us to see through them. As we get older, they start to become frosted, like bathroom glass, and begin to limit our vision. Cataract is a leading cause of blindness in the world’s developing countries, and it is also the second leading cause of visual impairment worldwide next to refractive errors. Data shows that out of 36 million blind people worldwide, 12 million cases have been caused by cataract. In the UK, 95% of cataracts can be found in people older than fifty, and it is estimated that 30% of people 65 years or older have a visually impairing cataract in one or both eyes. Cataract can be treated only with a surgical treatment, a highly effective procedure where the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Cataract surgery involves removing your eye's natural, clouded lens and replacing it with an artificial one. If you need to wear glasses, a new lens with the correct focusing power is implanted so that glasses may not be required. This includes improvement in both reading and distance vision when a multifocal lens is used. In the UK, nearly 500,000 cataract surgeries are performed each year. It is the most common surgery performed by the NHS. Cataract Surgery has the following benefits: - It restores clear vision but can also correct other refractive errors, potentially reducing the need for glasses. - Modern IOLs can address presbyopia, providing a broader range of vision without the need for reading glasses. - It is generally seen as a safe procedure, and the risk of serious complications arising from cataract treatment is very low. At Optimax, we pride ourselves on taking excellent care of our patients. With us, the procedure is painless, and 95% of people who come to Optimax for cataracts treatment achieve the minimum driving standard or better.
