Our people headed to NWG (Northumbrian Water Group)’s Innovation Festival 2024 this week – joining businesses and individuals from across the science and technology sectors to explore the theme ‘Speed and Scale’ 🚀 The #InnovationFestival brought together innovators to tackle business challenges and issues facing the water industry, as well as global issues like climate change and water poverty. Opencast’s Business Analyst Keith Lisle, Senior Enterprise Architect Paul Crisp and Senior Product Manager James Waters took part in HydroDigital, LLC’s Daily Dash ‘Citizen Water Bank’. The session explored smart sewer systems and considered NWG (Northumbrian Water Group)’s stakeholders, their needs and how to engage with them to ensure they were informed about NWG (Northumbrian Water Group)'s ambitions. Opencast’s Interaction Designer Al Robinson participated in a sprint focused on improving customer experience, facilitated by Cognizant. Collaboratively the team explored how to tackle a database lacking customer contact details, across four festival days. Together they found a solution that would bring benefits to NWG (Northumbrian Water Group), including improving customer satisfaction and lowering costs. Thank you to NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) for inviting us to be part of this incredible event 👏

Chief People Officer - Opencast - Skills and squiggly careers - People and social impact strategy

Use your vibe to find your tribe… a wise quote from today by James Devine FCIPD at the launch of HR magazine’s Most Influential awards. Coming up to 3 years as a People practitioner it made me feel very proud to be welcomed into this tribe of people-focused change makers. Very much feeling that my vibe has led me to this tribe!  Thanks to Rob Baker, FCIPD, MAPP for all your encouragement and inspiration.  Thanks to Tom Lawson for trusting me to give this chief people officer thing a shot, Julia Smith, FCIPD, MBPsS and Adam Sprackling for coaching me along the way, Kaijia Gu for telling me to go for it and the awesome Opencast People & Purpose team that it’s an absolute pleasure to work with

Founder & Chief Positive Deviant at Tailored Thinking • #8 HRs Most Influential Thinker 2023 • Author - Personalisation at Work • International Speaker • Positive Business Psychologist

(Really) Really chuffed to have made HR magazine's 2024 most influential list alongside so many inspiring and change making HR professionals. Personally, I'd like to thank and recognise team Tailored Thinking for inspiring and supporting me. And thank you to our amazing clients, collaborators and partners who share our passion to push and pursue new ideas to make the world of work a better place. It was also (really) wonderful to see recognition of HR and people leaders from the North East - congratulations Lindi Teate FCIPD, Cate Kalson and Alix Bolton FCIPD. And I'd also like to acknowledge the amazing work of the many (many) people whose names don't feature on this list this year. I could fill pages of my own of people who inspire me and I know make a difference to the profession and the people they lead. Thank you to Charissa King and all the HR magazine team for all your work in spotlighting and shining a light on the amazing work being done by HR and people leaders across the UK. #HRmostinfluential #HRmagazine #feelinglucky

Last week our people came together from across the UK for Opencast’s summer company conference and 'Castonbury' festival celebrations ✨ Opencast’s resident choir welcomed our people to Opencast's biggest event to date, which explored the theme ‘Connect, Learn, Inspire’. Chief Executive Tom Lawson took to the stage to share our latest wins and the exciting journey that lies ahead for Opencast. He shared the brilliant news of our B Corp Certification, and what this means for everyone as we hold ourselves to high environmental and social standards. The afternoon also included interactive breakout sessions and lightning talks expertly delivered by our people. An evening of festival celebrations followed with a brilliant line-up of live music, which included the Mi Marathi Dhol Tasha Group, the Castanets, the Monster Ceilidh Band and Koroleko. Our people also enjoyed great food, a photo booth, a silent disco, glitter station and games!   A huge thank you to our people who joined the event and all those involved in making it happen, including Holly Hudson and Sheena Widdowfield. Thanks also to our event partner BeaconHouse Events. Finally, a big thank you to all of our amazing performers who took to the stage! 📷 Photos: TyneSight Photographic
