About us
Onward is one of the largest registered providers of social housing based solely in the North West of England, with 35,000 homes across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire. We are a not-for-profit organisation regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing. Our purpose is to make a positive difference in the communities we serve by providing homes that people love, in places they are proud of and by working with partners to go beyond housing and invent new ways to do more. We do this by: • Building, managing and maintaining homes for people who are unable to access housing on the open market. • Delivering homes and services that make a real difference to the people living in our neighbourhoods. • Offering customers support and assistance, helping people to overcome the challenges. • Providing specialist housing including sheltered and housing with care, enabling our customers to live independent lives in the community. • Working with partners, voluntary groups and government agencies to provide more homes for people from all backgrounds, meeting the increasing need for housing throughout the North West.

Our Social Housing Decarbonisation Funded (#SHDF) #retrofit project in Oldham offers a range of opportunities to make #TheOnwardDifference in our communities, through #SocialValue contributions from contractor Sustainable Building Services (UK) Ltd. Mohammed (20) and Hateeb (19) have recently completed a 2-year T level course in Electro Technical Engineering and are now being mentored by Sustainable Building Services (SBS) to apply their knowledge through a work experience placement. SBS Contracts Manager, Andy Roberts, said: “Mohammed and Hateeb are great and eager lads, our aim is to give them as much practical experience as possible in all aspects of the sustainability project.” As part of its social value commitment, SBS has also: - Donated 5 laptops for Onward customers in Oldham - Arranged a local street clean-up and skip day - Collaborated with a local school to decorate communal areas - Partnered with ‘My Coldhurst’ to donate to local community projects. We are pleased to see SHDF-funded works creating a positive impact in the local area. As we improve the standard of our customers’ homes, these social investments will ensure a long term and positive local legacy.
