What are the opportunities for young funds professionals in Luxembourg? Associates Laurianne Vessot and Jawad Bach attended the ALFI - Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry NextGen Event to discuss the active role young professionals can play in the industry. Here's what they had to say: 🎤 ➡️ What are the opportunities for young law professionals in Luxembourg - and what are the challenges? Jawad said: "As a leading global financial centre, Luxembourg presents a wealth of opportunities for young law professionals. "We gain insight into multi-jurisdictional transactions and acquire experience working with international clients. This environment not only increases exposure to global markets, but also offers a platform to accelerate professional development in a complex and ever-evolving business and regulatory landscape. "However, the demanding nature of the legal profession - especially within Luxembourg's competitive and fast-moving financial sector, includes a significant workload and high-pressure projects, which may impact work-life balance." ➡️ Why do NextGen events like this matter? Laurianne said: "Attending this event was a fantastic opportunity to network with industry peers, including portfolio managers, analysts and consultants. "It was particularly valuable to engage in discussions regarding our daily lives, which highlighted common perceived privileges and challenges for young people living in Luxembourg today from both professional and personal aspects. In addition, the event provided a platform to observe the generational change within our profession, which was a great learning opportunity. "We are delighted to have participated in this edition - which was exceptionally rich in content and discussion, and we are already looking forward to the next event." The DIFC's crucial updates to prescribed company (PC) regulations enacted this week will have a positive impact on UAE businesses: ➡️ Expanded eligibility: DIFC opens its doors wider, allowing GCC citizens, authorised firms, and registered persons to control PCs, enhancing access to its premier financial infrastructure for asset management and protection. ➡️ Versatile applications: UAE businesses gain strategic flexibility with PCs now usable for managing GCC registrable assets or structured financing. ➡️ Global accessibility, local advantage: The new rule lets any global entity establish a PC with a DFSA-registered CSP director, emphasising DIFC's global reach with a focus on compliance. ➡️ These changes offer UAE businesses more flexibility, protection, and efficiency in their financial and investment endeavors. The Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands are often viewed as offshore hubs of secrecy. However, there is a lot more publicly available information that is possible to obtain than many people realise and both jurisdictions have extensive information gathering to assist third parties to find out more about a company, its assets and/or its financial position in connection with potential litigation. https://loom.ly/IM3ovjI In an article originally published in ThoughtLeaders4 Fire magazine, Anna Snead, Jeremy Snead and Tina Asgarian explore what information is available and what disclosures can be made. #BVI #Cayman #DisputeResolution

Congratulations to Joyce Samuel Primary School's Class of 2024! Last week, colleagues from our BVI team had the honour of attending the school's graduation ceremony to celebrate their pupils' incredible achievements. We also presented the three highest achieving students with brand-new laptops and printers donated by Ogier to support their continued learning. Building and nurturing meaningful community partnerships is important to us. Since 2010, Ogier has supported Joyce Samuel Primary School, contributing to literary and maths programmes, providing essential tech like laptops and audio-visual equipment, and, after Hurricane Irma in 2017, replacing equipment and being a part-funder for the school's new roof. We look forward to our continued support of Joyce Samuel Primary School and wish their pupils every future success. Thanks to our BVI colleagues who joined the ceremony and presented the prizes: Michael Killourhy, Odane C. Lennon, Craig Johnson, Dianne Hodge and Chantal Marquis. #CSR #BVI #ClassOf2024 #CommunityPartnerships
