About us

Having the right numbers of trained staff - in the right place, at the right time is key to delivering better health and social care. We are a national body, providing education that enables excellence in health and social care for the people of Scotland. Our role has grown to support the breadth of health and social care. We work with partners in areas such as careers attraction, recruitment and retention, improving the employment experience, and organisational and leadership development. - We provide learning resources to anyone who provides health or social care support, no matter whether they work in the NHS, social care bodies, public, voluntary or private sector. - We provide essential workforce planning and development. - Our digital services support staff to do their jobs better and take on new roles. They support citizens to live healthier lives. - We have a national role in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development.

  •   We are delighted to share the Digital and Data Capability Framework has now launched 👉 https://lnkd.in/dntGE56X Developed by NHS Education for Scotland on behalf of The Scottish Government and COSLA, the framework is designed to support the development of digital capabilities for everyone working in health and social care in Scotland. The framework identifies the digital skills, knowledge, and behaviours the workforce needs to do their job and deliver safe and good quality care and support. This is designed to support the entire health and social care workforce in Scotland, including the NHS, Local Authorities, Health and Social Care Partnerships, Social Work, Social Care, Care and Support Providers, Housing, Third and Independent Sectors.   • Recruitment is now open for Cohort 2 of the Scotland led master’s level programme: Leading Digital Transformation in Health and Care for Scotland, with Scottish Government funding 25 places for participants to complete the 1 Year Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) starting in September 2024. Applications will be accepted between 12 July and 04 August 2024 with candidates being informed by 16 August 2024 if they have been successful. Led NES and delivered by the University of Edinburgh, the programme aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to become innovative and transformational digital leaders for the sector, while providing opportunities to translate these skills and knowledge into practice for the benefit of their organisation and the wider system. To be eligible to apply candidates should: - Currently working in a health, social care, social work, or housing setting in Scotland. - Be operating within a role where they aspire to drive and implement digital transformational change within their organisation or system. - Meet the academic requirements for the programme or have 3-5 years relevant work experience. - Have the support of the Chief Executive or an Executive Director in their organisation. We welcome applications from those currently working in the NHS, Health and Social Care Partnerships, Local Authorities, Social Care, Social Work, Care Providers, Housing, Charities, and the Third Sector.
