Behind the scenes: Election edition 🌟 On Thursday, 4th July, our brands made history, working tirelessly through the night to deliver the highest quality election coverage possible. Here’s a look behind the scenes… 📻 Times Radio produced an incredible 100 hours of live election coverage. Matt Chorley led the overnight results show with political editor Kate McCann and Calum Macdonald. They were joined by some of the most distinguished voices in politics and journalism including Andrew Neil, William Hague, Peter Mandelson and Ayesha Hazarika. 📰 The Times newsroom showcased teamwork at its best, involving desk heads, the lobby team, commentators, graphics, design, pictures, video and production staff who all brought the journalism to life. 🎧The Times also produced some incredible podcasts that informed listeners throughout the whole election campaign, including The Story, How to Win an Election and The Election Shortcut with Kate McCann. 🎤On the morning of the election results, a special live edition of the "How To Win An Election" podcast was recorded on stage before an enthusiastic audience. 🤳 TalkTV election night coverage saw the station’s biggest stars keep the nation informed and entertained as the results came in overnight. Julia Hartley-Brewer broke the exit poll before established TV competitors, while Mike Graham and Ian Collins were joined by a star-studded cast of ex-politicians, Lords and News UK journalists. 🎙️ In the run up to the election, Harry Cole's Never Mind The Ballots turned into a daily morning show, hosting live episodes including the globally-viewed debate between readers and the Prime Minister and Prime Minister-in-waiting, making headlines everywhere. 🗞️The Sun's Lobby team created a blueprint for political journalism, producing a slick morning video show that generated digital copy and buzz, continuing into the next day's paper. 📽️On the night Never Mind The Ballots hosted two live shows at 10pm and 8am to update audiences with the key moments as well as producing copy for the website and multiple issues of the paper. 🌞 The Sun's “Time For A New Manager” election special front page was a hit and generated headlines. 🌐 The Sun's online team commissioned live maps and graphs that millions of readers used to find their local results, driving more readers to our site for longer, resulting in over 6 million impressions!
