Architecture and Planning
We are a London-based architectural practice creating enduring, thoughtful buildings underpinned by sustainable design.
About us
Our work is defined by a sensitive yet aspirational approach: our inventiveness, judgement and tactical awareness appeals to clients who seek boldness, ingenuity and imagination without sacrificing the practical demands of cost, deadline and delivery. We believe our clients share our view that excellence in architecture requires a profound respect for the past, an acute awareness of the present, and the ability to anticipate the demands of the future. As a London practice we frequently work on constrained, urban sites; often in conservation areas or within the curtilage of listed buildings. In every case our aim is to complement and enhance the existing condition; to consider not just our site but the wider context and our civic responsibilities. We appreciate, and never ignore, the economic, social and financial pressures which drive construction. Effective and open communication is an essential part of the architectural design process and is exceptionally important to our practice. We strive to stay at the forefront of 3D visualization and production information technology to aid and enhance collaboration between all parties. This rapport encourages an open-minded and varied approach to design, resulting in work which is consistent in quality, but not uniform in style. Buildings can be exuberant or restrained, colourful or quiet. They represent our creative interpretations of the objectives, values and aspirations of our clients. We design for a sustainable future, whether reusing existing buildings or making new architecture. Our aim is to create buildings that respect the environment, the needs of our clients and the wellbeing of occupants. The Morrow + Lorraine studio is a tight-knit team of talented people drawn from leading universities and top practices. Our low turnover of staff is testimony to the long-term commitment of the practice to our most precious asset.

Our interior architectural designer, Agata Malinowska, recently had the pleasure of joining Atrium Ltd in Barcelona for a tour of the exceptional Vibia showroom and factory. A big thank you to Atrium and Vibia for this enriching experience! We look forward to exploring the use of pioneering lighting designs in our projects.
This June, the Atrium team and designers embarked on an inspiring trip to Barcelona, Spain, to visit the renowned Spanish lighting brand Vibia, known for its innovative and artistic approach to design, dedicated to creating functional pieces that transcend mere illumination. The tour of their showroom and factory provided a unique glimpse into Vibia's creative process. Witnessing firsthand the dedication to design excellence and cutting-edge technology was truly inspiring. This experience sparked a lively exchange of ideas among all the attendees, and we're confident it will positively influence all the future projects to come. Thank you for having us Vibia! Some incredible news for The Hub Victoria team! We have been shortlisted for 'Retrofit Project of the Year' at the British Construction Industry Awards! Kudos again to all the talented individuals involved for their hard work and dedication. #BCIAs #Finalist #ProjectOfTheYear #Retrofit
We are delighted to share that our London & South project, The Hub Victoria has been shortlisted for 'Retrofit Project of the Year' at the British Construction Industry Awards. Delivered last year on behalf of Gaw Capital, The Hub Victoria stretched the ambitions of cut-and-carve by extending two office buildings with tenants in occupation, adding 10,016 square metres (NIA) of office space over three storeys in addition to new landscaped spaces and a central atrium at the former roof level. Congratulations to the project team for this fantastic achievement and we look forward to attending the Awards ceremony later this year. #BCIAs #finalist #awardshortlist #retrofit #extension

First look at our most recent project completion, The Fold... Originally The Warwick Building, The Fold was constructed in 1892 by Alfred M. Ridge as a furniture depot for Whiteley’s Department Store. Morrow + Lorraine, appointed by AXA, led a comprehensive refurbishment as part of the Kensington Village redevelopment. The building’s revitalization encompasses several key areas. The upgrades included creating a multifunctional reception area, enhancing connectivity to nearby green space, and transforming office floors into open, light-filled spaces. A rooftop extension added a landscaped terrace, while new lift cores and WC facilities were installed. The basement was adapted to encourage sustainable commuting, and outdated mechanical and electrical systems were replaced for better energy efficiency and comfort. The proposal not only enhances the building but also respects its historical significance and architectural integrity. Sensitive additions and careful restoration of period features ensure the building remains a valued part of the Conservation Area and maintains its status as a Building of Merit. See the full project on our website: https://lnkd.in/emneCCfX A huge congratulations to everyone involved! To celebrate Pride Month this year, Morrow + Lorraine went on a Queer History Walking Tour of Soho, one of the world's most beloved Queer neighbourhoods. Firstly, a big thank you to our fabulous guide, Dan de la Motte, for his excellent retelling of the city's vast and complex history of LGBTQ+ life in London. Iconic stories of pioneering drag queens, secret gay soirées, and trailblazing activism painted a vivid picture of how Soho shaped the city's Queer culture through the centuries. Thanks also to Gregory Murrell, Morrow + Lorraine’s LGBTQIA+ EDI champion, for arranging this event. As a practice, Morrow + Lorraine endeavours to provide an inclusive and accepting work environment that supports and celebrates its LGBTQIA+ employees, as well as the wider Queer architectural community. Happy Pride Month! Photography by James Morrow #pridemonth #queerarchitecture

Build The Way 2024/25! Excited to share our rebrand just in time for our next round of recruitment coming next week. We worked with Jason Badrock to help bring a fresh and unique identity to our branding. Playing on the word ‘you’, the U represents the individuality of each trainee and how this programme is for you and guided by you. The motif of many different U’s represents the diversity of each trainee and the diversity that the traineeship brings to the profession. Check out our new website with more information about the programme. www.buildtheway.co.uk. #architecturetraineeship #traineeship #accessiblelearning #builtenvironment HUT Architecture GPAD Morrow + Lorraine shedkm The London School of Architecture POoR Collective
