    Finding a universal language for Italy’s favourite non-alcoholic aperitivo Crodino for Campari Group.   The sun is shining on Crodino with a new brand identity. Our brief was to create a unique and ownable brand world appealing to Gen Z audience.     Bringing it back, we used optimistic and fun 70s inspired design codes alongside playful typographic style, paying homage to an iconic era in Italian design. Aptly named ‘Open Sunshine’, the new creative platform offers a breath of fresh air and escapism for consumers seeking respite from the negatives in modern life.   Beyond the visual transformation, we designed a series of activations that transform urban environments into vibrant spaces. Brands like Tenzing and Finisterre certainly think so. Building a brand from the product up ensures super solid foundations and an authentic story consumers can buy into.   Find your people 👫 Building a community of brand advocates is essential for brand growth. But so frequently marketeers are looking to start from scratch. Knowing why you exist for your consumer and allowing this to guide you to existing communities where your brand can add value creates organic and lasting brand love.   Commit, commit, commit 👰 It’s the classic Challenger brand phrase: overcommit. If you're activating in an overcrowded space like festivals, brands need to go big, really big, to cut through – just as Jägermeister did. Consumers' time is precious, so asking them to spend it with your brand is a big ask - make it worth their while.

    3 TAKEAWAYS FROM MAD//FEST: DAY 2️⃣ From our co-founder Paul Brennan   Big doesn’t mean boring 🎪 Some great insight into how creativity works within such a behemoth organisation like PepsiCo. Building in-house teams from the ground up and sticking rigidly to a human-centred approach on everything they do. And of course, showing some groundbreaking work and proving once again that big doesn’t mean boring.   Finding a new audience 👥 What happens when a big part of your target audience doesn’t even know who you are. That’s what happened to Bang & Olufsen, 100 years old and famous amongst an older generation for being the epitome of Scandinavian cool. The answer could be personalised dancing avatars based on your Spotify history creating an instant reason for younger consumers to engage with your brand.   Tell me a story 📚 Inspirational talk from Dishoom about poetry and narrative being at the heart of their ethos and restaurant design. “For something to truly succeed it must have a little poetry at the heart of it” was the quote, then they showed us this ethos in action, demonstrating how they practice what they preach and the power of brilliant storytelling.

    3 TAKEAWAYS FROM MAD//FEST: DAY 1️⃣ From our co-founder Stuart Wood   The all-prevailing rise of AI 🤖 Inevitably not a presentation or panel discussion missed the opportunity to discuss the impact of AI on the industry and brands. However, rather than doom mongering most were positive about how AI can automate the dullest tasks allowing the brilliance of human creativity the time and space to make the best work.   Finding your niche in crowded categories 🤼 From the excellent and inspirational repositioning and activation of Asics’ ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’, to the maximalism of Magnum’s Pleasure platform, there was a distinct sense that not being for everyone but meaning more to your tribe is the best way to cut through the clutter. Find your angle, build the meaning and sweat the asset.   So wrong, yet so right ✅ Boldness was the theme for the year and who better to exemplify this than Liquid Death – the water brand de jour. Brilliant and bonkers in equal measure, never has a brand ripped up the rule book quite so blatantly, proving that there’s still some mileage in sticking it to the man!

    Following last week’s Best Beer Packaging award win, here’s more on 1128 by Grimbergen. A modern brand with heritage, produced in a state-of-the-art microbrewery within the walls of the ancient Grimbergen Abbey.   In the briefing our client told us that this was a ‘complex marketing challenge’, as we had to clearly differentiate this premium range whilst creating a halo effect on the core brand, and position it correctly within the Belgian and craft sub-categories. We think we smashed it!   Only time and sales will tell, of course, but we’re quietly confident that no divine intervention will be required 🤞   What do you think? #branddesign #innovation #premiumization

    WINNER!!! 🍻 Great news today for Missouri and our clients at Carlsberg Group. 1128, Grimbergen’s new premium range, has been awarded the 2024 Beerpassie Sparflex award for Best Beer Packaging.    The judges highlighted the 'sober, very classy' design, gold foil details, signature of master brewer Father Karel and barcode in the shape of the abbey silhouette. These combine 'to make a beautiful, refined design'.   Great work Stuart Wood, Paul Brennan, Gussy Wood, Alixanne Hucker, Sam Douglas, Lauren Smith.
