A recent University College London survey claims that more than 90% of postmenopausal women were never taught about menopause at school and over 60% only started looking for information about it once their symptoms had started. Thankfully, the impact of menopause is starting to be discussed more openly, but to help our colleagues here in the UK, we have launched an app that provides free and personalised menopause support and information to manage their symptoms. By raising awareness, we are working to help managers and team members support one another through important life changes. The engineering skills gap is well documented with many manufacturers citing the challenges of bringing fresh STEM talent into the workplace as an ageing and skilled workforce reaches retirement. Unlike other industries, such as the IT or customer service sectors, where hybrid or even fully remote working is becoming the new normal, a career in manufacturing will almost always be site-based. Did you know that domestic transport was the largest carbon-emitting sector, responsible for 28% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the UK in 2022? 🚗 It's a key reason we have developed a new group car policy which allows employees to choose from a range of electric vehicles. It has already been rolled out in Belgium and UK, the countries with the largest fleets, and the policy will continue to roll out across all McBride locations over this coming year. Group Head of Sustainability, Helen Herd, said, ""In a bid to reduce our environmental impact, switching our methods of transport to green options felt like a logical next step towards a sustainable future. This move not only demonstrates our commitment to sustainability but also aligns with our target of reducing our direct carbon emissions.""
