We all know, knowledge is power! So, this non-binary People's day we've made sure to do just that.... create awareness, build knowledge and ensure we are truly creating a culture where everyone's welcome! What does Non-binary mean and how can you support? Non-binary people don't identify exclusively as male or female. They have diverse gender identities and expressions, sometimes fluid. Language matters more than you think! Using the right pronouns shows respect and can make a big difference. Let's ditch assumptions and embrace diversity 🙏 Always remember, being curious is not a bad thing. But be brave enough to ask the right questions. 💜 Be direct and respectful. Simply ask the person, “What pronouns do you use?” 💛 Offer your own pronouns first. Sharing your own pronouns first can make the 💜 conversation feel less intimidating. 💜 Avoid making assumptions about someone’s gender identity based on their appearance. 💛 Use gender-neutral language when unsure. 💜 Ask groups instead of individuals.

Last month we took a leap into uncharted waters and hosted GroceryAid's first-ever Dragon Boat Race event! With over 400 guests, including 110 Booker colleagues, competing to become our first Dragon Boat Champion, the day was a phenomenal success 🐉 🛶 We exceeded our target and raised an incredible £275K with Grocery Aid! This means they can provide emotional and financial support to an additional 4,000 people this year 💙 Mark your calendars - this fantastic event is now an annual tradition, set for June 12th next year. Last week, we celebrated Eid al-Adha at the Pakistani Community Centre in Manchester, and what a fantastic event it was! The day was filled with a delicious three-course meal, beautiful henna artistry, captivating cultural music performances, and so much more✨ We had an incredible turnout of 120 colleagues and are proud to have raised £1,565 for Muslim Hands so far. Today is Armed Forces Day 🙌 It is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets. Yesterday we held our first ever in person LGBTQ+ Network event at our Eccles offices celebrating Pride month, which was an overwhelming success!
