In fond remembrance of the iconic J.P.R. Williams who passed yesterday. A rugby maestro whose legacy transcends the field. His trademark sideburns and headband were more than a fashion statement; they were symbols of his fearless approach to the game and his unique flair. Legend has it that opponents were not just tackling a player but a force of nature, sideburns blazing. J.P.R.'s storied career saw him don the jerseys of Wales and the British and Irish Lions, leaving an indelible mark. 3 Grand Slams with Wales and annoyingly good against England. In 10 tests between Wales and England he scored five tries and was never on the losing side! His prowess reached its zenith in the '71 Lions tour, where he played a pivotal role throughout the tour, ultimately winning the series against New Zealand with a long-range drop-goal. Beyond rugby, J.P.R. displayed his extraordinary talents on the tennis court, clinching the Wimbledon junior champion title in 1966. A true polymath, he later donned the white coat, becoming an accomplished orthopedic surgeon. To call J.P.R talented, would be akin to describing Shakespeare as a decent wordsmith. As we bid farewell to this rugby luminary, let's celebrate the moments etched in history—the thunderous tackles, the audacious tries, and the camaraderie that fueled his teams. Anyone that saw me play in my early days will have seen precious few similarities between us, but one would have certainly spotted some J.P.R knock offs. Copious lamb chop style sideburns, a head band fashion from an uncoupled sock and I wore my rightly placed socks around my ankles. If I couldn't be the man, at least look like the man! J.P.R. Williams, forever etched in the annals of rugby greatness, may your sideburns and headband continue to inspire generations on and off the pitch. #rugbylegend #RIP #JPR

I just wanted to express my gratitude for an incredible day at the Love of the Game of the Game clay pigeon shooting event at Holland and Hollands. Huge thanks to the principal organizer Michelle Elkins for making it exceptional, and to all the supporters and exhibitors (DocComs HeadX NeuroFlex ) who added magical innovation to the day. To Sally Pettipher Donna Sanderson-Hull Stuart Bagshaw and Roderick Hebden for their time and dedication to the cause. Thanks to, Peter Scrivener for hosting and managing not to make it all about him! 😜Together, through science, technology, engineering and medicine, we aim to greater understand concussion, minimise risk, provide best in class diagnostics and safety protocols and ultimately treat brain trauma and provide a safe environment for people to enjoy sports. Through camaraderie, candid conversation, shared vision, collaboration and our shared love of the sport we can consistently move the dial. A special thanks to Unispace Global for their sponsorship and unwavering support—making events like these possible! Last but not least my thanks to rugby legends Kenny Logan and John Taylor for your presence, insights and good humour! #LoveOfTheGame #Gratitude #UniSpaceGlobal

We're excited to launch our new Concussion Management Course, completely free for all grassroots sports clubs and schools as part of our campaign reduce the risks from concussions in sport! LOTG worked closely with the Government to develop the first concussion guidelines for grassroots sport. Now, as players return to school and training, LOTG are campaigning to increase awareness of the guidelines, which detail identification and response to sports-related concussion, with parents, teachers, and coaches.   The “If in doubt, sit them out” guidelines, designed in conjunction with DCMS, provide a framework for recognising and managing concussion from the time of injury. Outlining steps from the initial injury to the safe return to play, they are intended for all who participate in grassroots sports, from primary school age up.   The new course was developed on Moodle by edtechhuman, a specialist edtech company that works with clients over the world to create more effective and engaging online courses.  Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eh8a7MZG
